I was interesting in the WES Bus comp as a ssl compressor to put on my master 2 bus.
But, I just read your post.
Can the Bettermaker mastering comp act like a ssl bus compressor ????
Thanks for sharing

Personally I'd demo them side by side, like I did. In my case I was a RND MBPII owner, than really needed digital recall, but good sound - I kept the Bettermaker, sold the RND MBPII
Better Maker Mastering comp - respects low end punch of a track, respects stereo image of a track. It sounded like 80% as good as my RND MBPII, and had recall, so decided to go with it. Never looked back.
Wes Bus Comp - did opersite of that, and sounded pinched and thin. if it was adding some special SSL character that made everything sound 'like a record' I might have lived with that effect, but I didn't think so. the Iron pad didn't do much for me either. Enclosure felt cheap and light, knobs like plastic etc etc - nothing appealed to me personally.
I also have 2x Wes Rhea, and 2x Wes Mimas in a Titan rack, so it very much AM a fan of the brand. and the Wes Tube Comp is gonna be mine asap, because anything that is a expanded RHEA is gonna appeal to me, despite the enclosure not appealing. RHEA is bonkers good.
