The last few I've done were $100 from the latest version, this was after I initially bought it the first time for like $350 IIRC with a competitive cross-grade from another DAW I owned. I believe the competitive cross-grade is available for almost everything, and no....you don't have to give up your license for the other software. It's more like an industry discount. Compared to PT Ultimate or especially Sequoia....it feels like it's free.
But, from my view, just from what's announced, it's going to be $100 for:
- Better project-based workflow (which I already used but was a PITA)
- Flexible level matching in the montage itself
- Replicating plugin settings between clips (I'd prefer for this to be more automatic with some settings to control it, but that actually makes it viable to cut songs into separate clips for external editing or to process one section a little differently - this is one of the big ones for me)
- Null testing tracks (which would simplify some things I already do)
- Updated "Album Wizard" workflow (which looks more flexible than the "CD Wizard" that already was basically an album wizard)
- zoom to peaks (which I think is a significant visual improvement)
- Simplified loudness analysis (which is cool)
- Playback plugins tied to outputs (e.g., HRTF only on headphones - this alone would simplify my setup)
All that is easily worth ~$100 to me.
