Is 6 feet seperation going to be ok for these monitors? That will be from center of tweeter/woofer of one speaker to the other speaker centers. When angled in it will be slightly less. Or are these strictly narrow field for around 1 meter distance. I have 2 lsr310 subs one on the outside of each 305 running stereo. Sounds good at 5 foot seperation now on the 305's but looking to get a wider sound stage. Big room. 12 foot 6 inches wide by 16 foot 6 inches deep. Seems to play plenty loud enough at correct triangle listening position.

JBL recommends 1 meter distance from speakers to you, so the monitors should ideally also be 1 meter apart.

You have 2 subs in an untreated room? Your room really isn't _that_ big. It's about the same size as mine and I find 1 sub w/ the 2 JBLs to be fine, if not too much bass. I'm still working on tweaking the levels for ideal bass in the room.

Can't put them 1 meter apart. They are on stands and tweeter is perfect height. They will block my 50" hd tv which I also use as my computer monitor

I am using hrt hd dac with balanced dual quad canera cables. I am using the
-10dbv input sensitivity on the subs and monitors. Everything I read says balanced is +4dbu but I find the volume to low unless I really boost the pre amp in the jrivers 19 equalizer. Also there is a descrepency in the quick set up guide compared to the full jbl manual. The quick set up guide says to use the same input setting on the monitors as the sub but the full manual says to use -10dbv setting on monitors regardless of sub input sensitivity setting. Am I ok using the -10dbv setting with balanced cables?? Yes I need to treat the crapola out of my room and then work on getting the stero sub levels just right. Prefering the 125 hz setting on subs at the moment but that may change. Have not played with this system a lot yet. It can sound thunderous for sure!

monitor separation 'should' be equal to the distance your listening from.

If you are 6 feet back from the monitors, put 6 ft between them is a basic rule.

There are other considerations, but that's a starting point.

You obviously don't have to follow the recommendation. JBL only mentions that 1 meter distance is the optimal SPL. If it still sounds good at 6 ft, you should be good, provided you're 6 feet from each of the speakers. I also read monitors at -10dbv regardless of sub. Can't remember what my sub's set at, but my monitors are at -10.

I actually can get them close to a meter apart or even exactly a meter by moving them forward in the equalateral triangle out from the front wall and tv monitor. When They are angled to just graze my ears I can actually still see the whole tv monitor. No good for anyone sitting beside me to see the tv however LOL! That is the down fall. I will have to give a good listen at 1 meter seperation and report back if it got better or worse than the 4 foot nine inches of seperation I have now.

Yeah, give it a try at both distances and see if there's any noticable difference. You may be ok - hopefully. I'm sure it would be nice to watch TV with someone else once in a while.

I don't see any text stating "1 meter" in their manuals.

You should really just move the speakers and give it a listen. How is anybody on some random forum going to know if that works for you in your room?

If you're already using them with a 5 foot distance between them then moving them will take you like 3 minutes and if you like the result you like it. If not move them back.

One mix engineer who worked in the same facility as me, now award winning iirc, had his speakers pretty 'narrow' compared to how I had mine at the time. I asked him about it and he just shrugged his shoulders and went "It's just how I like it". I probably don't have to mention that his mixes sound great.
