Greetings gearslutz! Been a while since I've been over here. Hoping to get some ideas about what to do with my RME Multiface breakout box and PCI Card. I have the card in my old desktop, but now I have a new all-in-one Asus machine (long story) with no Firewire ports or PCI slots. Now, hopefully yall can forgive me as I've been out of the game for a second...I'd guess that you'd need the PCI card to power the box, but do you think there's any way I could use the breakout box with the Asus machine?

Ideal situation is I'd like to have a breakout box with a few midi ports, and at least 4 line ins/2 outs. I don't need any mic pres. I am thinking not having firewire/pci slot is a disadvantage here. I really like the multiface and the totalmix software interface as well, but I'm not sure how to handle the incompatible connections. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can get some good converters (preferably RME) hooked up to this comp?

Rme offers a PCI-E card for it.You could sell the PCI card to get funds started.You have a Desktop pc right? They have cards available for Notebooks aswell called Express cards.

No card slots. I could be missing something here...

Oh well If it has no slots you are out of luck with the multiface.I would suggest sell it and buy the rme Babyface.Its almost the same with better ad/da quality and it is usb.Rme usb Interfaces are very good so you do not loose stability or qualiy.
I own a Multiface myself for 10 years and when it breaks i switch to the babyface.

I am such an idiot for buying this stupid all-in-one...i had a web project to do, a bad back, and it was what i could carry. I LIKE the old school Total Mix, I don't need all this bells and whistles of the new total mix. CRAP. I really blew it. I am gonna use my old desktop for audio n this stupid all in one for web dev. Feeling super dumb right now!

yeah no worries dude, you should be able to sell it easily on eBay. get a USB device like the rme babyface or the roland capture series.
