The OP was obviously looking for an experienced opinion on the sonic quality difference (if any) between the two units. But instead you chime in with your condescending help. As I search for an answer to the same question, I get a couple of manual links. Thanks for impeding progress. You should run for Congress.

Not sure about this unit in particular, but when DBX introduced manufacturing changes that did not change the design, they still had to change the name of the product to meet regulation. This the 160x, xt, and now a. The design stayed largely unchanged, but something necessitated the change in nomenclature.

IME, they will sound very very similar. Just get one you can afford.
