The OP was obviously looking for an experienced opinion on the sonic quality difference (if any) between the two units. But instead you chime in with your condescending help. As I search for an answer to the same question, I get a couple of manual links. Thanks for impeding progress. You should run for Congress.

Its always a good idea to get more updated informatin from those in the know than to search over outdated post dating back sometimes 8 years...

It's an even better idea for people to respond on postings with actual information with their user experience. Who cares how old this post is? Two years by the way...not eight. I don't see any other posts with this info on GS.

Not sure about this unit in particular, but when DBX introduced manufacturing changes that did not change the design, they still had to change the name of the product to meet regulation. This the 160x, xt, and now a. The design stayed largely unchanged, but something necessitated the change in nomenclature.

IME, they will sound very very similar. Just get one you can afford.
