I've heard that studio projects, like RODE, make good budget mics as well.

for cheap comfortable tracking headphones i went with the Sennheiser HD202.
i got 3 pairs for under $100. clear enough to hear whats going on with everyone else playing. anybody not content with them tends to bring their own.

Ordered today as per the last update.

Last post for awhile, sorry. What about the Yamaha o1v 96? Too small? Good pre's for the price. You can choose what kind of Outputs you want (XLR, TRS, etc.) and can connect several of them together if want to expand.

Well, you can go very cheap but it depends on how much you want to sacrifice accuracy for those musicians. For example, if a cheap pair has really anemic or hyped bass, the bass player will try to overcompensate while playing during recording--you do not want to deal with that. Go for the most accurate tracking headphones you can afford--do not skimp. I recommend the Equation RP21--they are accurate enough, easy on the eyes (love that vermilion/black color scheme), and very reasonably priced--only $99 each. I don't think I've heard headphones cheaper than that I'd trust yet.

I agree. However in the $20 to $30 range the Equation EP-3070 is the best thing going in the cheap cans department if that's his price range.

C) Get loud
D) Delivers REAL bass too
E) Has field replaceable, detachable 9' straight cable!
F) Collapsible

Uhm, the B3 *is* a mic from Studio Projects.
\I just got a pair of Røde NT-5's. So far I like them too (did a couple of simple scratch recordings on my Crafter GAE36 semi-acoustic grand auditorium guitar with them... extremely realistic reproduction!

"Made for the electronic musician" you just say it. I agree with this 100%. I think Yamaha was like to "remake" a monitortype that they maked in the mid 80's, begin 90's. Alot of sounds of that era are coming back (already from 2000) with a more modern beat/touch in it. (like DaftPunk for example)
