The two usb switchers have arrived. I have painted my bass.




This will be a Fender jazz bass tractor clone. A bass developed by the late Berry Oakley. It will have a bisonic pickup and two fender jazz pickups. His 66 jazz bass had a rozewood fingerboard and was wood color on the body. (one of them was wood color, the second was sunburst). I went a different route. The top picture was when I discovered my lake placid blue spraycan didn't have sparkles. It took me 3 spraycans to find a spraycan with metallic. Right now the project has 2 weeks rest so the nitro paint can cure and it can be buffed.

The body is ash. I used a router to create several changes to the body. It has a backplate so I have extra room for some q filters.

And I bought Blue cat audio patchwork. Allso a mini stereo jack to two mono jack cable arrived.

Still trying to get AIR strike 2 drum machine plugin going on my mac pro snow leopard 10.8.5. I opened a support request. But I haven't received an answer yet.

Apparently, the staf of Inmusic informed me, I should download the AAX files from Avid. (It is rather peculiar). Which I did. I still have to install them. So, to be continued.

Strike seems to be an interesting plugin. I do have Spark 2 and another drum vst-i I got when I bought Sonar many moons ago.

I created this tread on 5 november 2023. It is now February 2025. So allmost 1,5 years. Hm.... So let's say another 2 months....Then I will have buttoned it up is my goal. (From getting to know the Mac platform to getting my second control24..... to make it a smooth experience).

This is a image I stole from the internet. But this is how the Mac Pro checks its memory. With ECC and register. Meaning the operating system checks if the memory is working and when a proces sent to memory has not returned *meaning a bad memory chip* . This is what every workstation should have. But doesn't.

Error correction code memory (ECC memory) is a type of computer data storage that uses an error correction code (ECC) to detect and correct n-bit data corruption which occurs in memory.

Registered memory (also called buffered memory) is computer memory that has a register between the DRAM modules and the system's memory controller.

I changed two sticks of memory. Now the OS reports that one stick is not present. I will buy a can of compressed air and use some thinner to clean the socket.

Besides one memory stick not reporting to the os. The system itself behaves normal. I found Pro tools 10.3.10 update. And installed that too.

Found some updates on the AVID website for the AIR tech AIEP3 bundle. But no dice finding 32bit AAX plugin versions for Strike and some other plugins in the bundle. Too bad.

The interesting thing I learned is that AAX reports it's latency to the OS. That VST doesn't. At this point it does seem that Steinberg (creator of the VST (virtual studio technology) is flirting with Avid and their AAX (avid audio extentions). (Not so much with these two standards.... But) it's been a few years these manufacturers have had programmers work with both daws. Now Wavelab seems to be integrated in the new version of Pro tools. I would have rather seen Cool Edit audio being integrated (what now is called Adobe audition). Cool Edit has these amazing filters to work with 8 bit 8 khz telephone audio.

Purchased a Apple cinema led 24 inch display. This one will go with the second Mac Pro. So I can do some data management and have a rig I can use to test the future repair of the first control24.

Still doing a lot of full week's of work. Hustling to get the studio ready the way I want it. I ordered some keyboard stand extentions so I can fit a third keyboard on the stand.

Next thing is a jack patchbay and a xlr patchbay. The control24 has seperate jack inputs (16 of them) and seperate xlr inputs. So you can easily patch in 32 sources.

I am living near Bax shop. A large dutch retail chain in musical instruments. That went belly up. Some of my stuff would come from there. So I saw the store is back up. I could access my account. My order was still there. Some cabling and an ash telecaster body was ordered. Maybe it will still be delivered.

I won a bid. A Midas Venice 160 rack mixer. It should come with issues. So it will either be a partsbin or I will be able to fix it and have some nice Midas preamps. I hope to buy a xlr patchbay and a jack patchbay.

I was able to score the arturia V-instruments bundle trough a deal directed to me by arturia. If you buy a arturia keyboard they will send you nice deals for returning customers. It served me well.

This week I closed a deal on a broken Midas Venice 160 rack mixer. It has noise on channel 9/10 on a sub group and 11/12 on a subgroup.

Maybe a ribbon cable issue.

Best virtual groove software ever coded, works amazing on a aged Ipad air2 with the iSpark app,
and yes the drumpads are stiff but better than newer akai mpd pads my opinion.
So maybe it would be a way to use the app with a class compliant usb inerface and Audiobus and your able to send multiple audio tracks via adat into Protools

What kind of noise? Could it be dirty subgroup switches?

Excercise and / or fader cleaner spray (make sure you use a good lubricated fader and pot spray and not unlubricated contact cleaner) and that might take care of it if you are lucky.

Certainly worth putting that effort in before the much bigger job of going inside as the Venice isn't really known for ribbon cable issues like the Mackie 8 bus boards were.

Here it is. Strangely all faders go alil rough. Like it was once drenched in beer. So taking it apart and clean it out is possibly a great first move. The channels 11/12 and 13/14 make a low noise. It sends out a voltage. If they are muted the rest is fine. I have not yet powered on. It was described like this to me. I received rackrails and sidepanels. But not a front panel. I would use it in a rack. So no problem.

You mean deoxit faderlube? Or an other product?

I have bought the Spark after I got the Spark LE. With the original software license.
