I'm looking into buying my first monitors, and I'm pretty sure I want to go with ADAMs but I don't know whether I want to go for the T7V or the A7X. The A7X is 2 to 3 times as expensive, but is slightly better according to reviews I've read. I can't go test them because of lockdown, but will I even notice the difference without sound treatment in my room? My desk position also isn't ideal, it's right up against the wall. I am willing to spend a bit more if I will notice a difference since this would then be my setup for the next 5-10 years hopefully, and I want to avoid buying now and upgrading within the next few years.

The T7V is oddly enough actually the better speaker of the two. That said, they share a pretty significant high shelf from 5k and up so that is something you would need to correct for.

I personally don't like those AMT tweeters much - they always sound exaggerated and weird to me. As such I'd rather go for something like a Neumann KH120 or Dynaudio LYD 7 or BM5A Mk III (or BM6A used).

I find Adam tweeters to be overbearing in untreated rooms. They really cause my ears to fatigue and kick my tinnitus off! I own T5Vs and only use them to make important final decisions (particularly stereo), my old (absolutely rubbish) Studiophile BX5s don't fatigue my ears at all which I mix on until I NEED the T5Vs. I'll probably replace them with JBL 305s which sound great without the ear ache!
