I have a question about splitting a mic signal. Can i split a xlr 2way with a non transformer passive splitter, and then split one of the end again using also non transformer passive splitter?

Im asking this because, festivals sound vendors in my country usually provide a 2way or 3way passive non transformer splitter. But, my band wants to bring our own monitor mixer and IEM system. We also want to bring our own splitter so we can use the vendors FOH console. Plug 28 channel input to our splitter, split A goes to our mixer, and split B goes to their system, which is another splitter (splitted 2way again to their FOH and monitor mixers). We cant connect the split B directly to their FOH system without passing through their splitter, because it could makes the system even more complicated in festivals where they already setup the patch for 8-12 bands and only have 15mins changeover between performances. Plugging our channel input to their splitter and take one of the splitted signal to our own mixer isnt possible, because again they have to reroute their already patched system again.

You need a more educated answer than mine. You are risking hum and noise problems when you link multiple systems without isolating transformers. There are also possible problems with impedance interactions. What exactly are you connecting? Microphones are challenging because of impedance variations and the very low level of the initial signal. Mics that require phantom power present the issue of what device is providing the 48 volts, and any interconnected devices having to deal with that power on some cables. Generally, if all cables are good, you might not have a phantom power problem.
If you are mainly interconnecting line level sources, there are fewer problems.
It seems that you know you are dealing with potential problems. Are you hooking up to the same PA all the time or to various systems?

Im gonna connect all of my band inputs (drums mics, intruments DI's, voc and brass mics). Yeah from what ive read and heard, what im trying to do here is not really recommended. but im trying to find another perspective, maybe i could get away with this system with minimal loss.
No we are touring and always hook with different vendors and system.

is there going to be any issues? idk like noise hums, or maybe altered sounds?

splitter outputs go to multiple stageboxes (mon, foh, broadcast) which are hooked up via madi or aoip so there are no issues in terms of ground loops even if you're using a fully passive, non-isolated splitter.

pretty much standard these days although those who still have transformer isolated splitters will of course use them; sometimes there's fighting over who gets the direct out though...

From my own experience, you may sooner or later run into a situation where the mults will not all work. You may get hum, other noise, odd frequency response on some inputs, or something. Or you may always be lucky.
As insurance, I would look into a used multi channel transformer splitter. It would guard against that eventual bad day. I say used because transformers don’t degrade over human lifetimes and are more likely to smash other equipment than be smashed by anything.

Are you the headliner? If yes, you can do what you want.

If you're one of the supporting bands, take the split from their splitter into your monitor mixer and be done with it. Most festivals aren't going to want you to repatch FOH for a support band.

Are you trying to run FOH and monitors from one mixer, or a monitor mixer from the split, and then swapping their FOH console for yours?

Again, unless your a headliner or top band, deal with the FOH console as is. They won't swap it out and you're causing more problems than it's worth given the short set time (guessing) as then they have to re-patch to the original FOH when you're done. Keep it simple wherever possible.

I have do this a lot with touring acts.

Damn near all everyone are on IEMs, thus the stage lines are always coming off a split (either transformer isolated, but usually not) before they hit my 56ch split to FOH, no issues, the production house has ran this rig for over a decade, no problem.

Actually the only time I do not end up having my signals fed from a second snake is when I'm mixing rental provided IEMs from monitorworld with the existing wedges.

is it ideal under lab conditions? possibly not.

does it work well for 45min-2hr paid performance, yes.
