How do you access your own music in progress across devices?

Looking for options to listen to works in progress from anywhere.

My current MO is to send my temp mixes/ideas to Dropbox or Google drive and listen from phone or ipad in their respective apps.

It works, but both those player interfaces are cumbersome and limited. Been toying with the idea of using Spotify's local feature, or Apple Music, or Plex.

Love to know some other solutions and experiences?

I bounce mixes and add them to my Apple Music library, they then sync across devices. I add them to playlists etc to hear different collections of work in progress. Works well for what I need.

I've been using the googledrive option to listen to rough mixes or share with other people. It's easier for uploading WAVs than attaching MP3s to emails.

I have found it useful for getting a reference on how something sounds on headphones/phone speaker, as well as giving me pause for thought on what a track needs/doesn't need.

The PC laptop I use for remote recording sessions gets connected to a wired local area network when I get back to the studio where my main DAW resides, so it's simply a matter of getting the PC to show up as another drive [sic] on the Mac and then moving the audio files to the working folder for subsequent overdub/mix work.

If not that, sometimes the USB thumbdrive version of SneakerNet.

Not a fan of Dropbox or other cloud-based solutions, but I will use them on rare occasions.

Mine is mac-specific, but the principle could be applied to any device. I use Airdrop to send the file to my iPhone and save it in Files. From there, I can play it via Bluetooth on my soundbar in the living room, my portable speaker, car stereo, wherever. That way I’m not having to stream it either - it’s a local file.
