Up until a day or so ago, nothing felt comfortable. I also have not decided which darts I prefer. I have a set each of 21 grams, 22 grams and 23 grams.
If you were able to nail the double, triple and bull, that is really good. I was never that good back when I played eons ago but my brother was.
I agree about it being more fun when you have people to play with. If I ever get my game to a decent level, I will definitely join up with a league. I am no where near that though so it is going to take a while.
Throwing darts is all about technique. There are some basic fundamentals to build upon. The trick is to become consistent. Here's a video that briefly talks about what this particular player uses. Pay particular attention to the alignment of the elbow as well as the wrist. Once you dial in those two and practice them, you'll start becoming more accurate.
When I started, I bought multiple sets with different weights. The worst thing to do when practicing is to alternate between different weights. Stick to one set and stay with that set until you start to see an improvement in your accuracy.
BTW, on the video I noticed that outer foam layer around the board. I had no idea those were around. They protect the tips in case you miss the board. Since my basement has cement walls, I may buy one so I can set up my board.
What I also did when I started out was to mark tournament distances on the floor so that I was at the same distance from the board every time I threw.
There are lots of vids out there, I recommend watching a few more that the one I posted.
