I rooted for Bochy, Seager, Eovaldi and Montgomery - so, Texas. I would have been just as happy had the D'Backs won. Game one was a thriller and I was hoping the series would go to seven games with the same type of tension. Instead, games two through four were mostly boring. Sure, lots of runs scored so there was action but there was not much tension until last night.
I heard this morning that this World Series was the least watched of all time. I do not know if that is accurate but what I will say is that I found much of it dull.
I refuse to pay for cable so my access to baseball games is minimal and over the years, my inability to follow any team has sort of pushed me away from the game. As a kid, baseball was my game so it is sad that cable and corporate greed have taken the game away from folks like me but it is what it is.
And, it is hard to miss it these days during the winter months since I don't have much access to it during the regular season and the post season. Fox was supposed to cover all the AL games this year but they changed their minds and most of the games were moved over to FS1. Pfft...!!!
I also do not like what the game has become. Home runs and strikeouts are not all that interesting for me. I think spotting a runner on 2nd base during extra innings is an insult to the history of the game and simply bush league. The stats have ruined what to me is the greatest game ever invented. It is just not the same game anymore. I do not give a shit about exit velocity and the likes. I want to see clutch hitting and hit and run and pitchers duels. To me, a no hitter only exists when it is pitched by 1 pitcher. Same with a shutout. The new game is messing with the history and I'm old school. I also think Manfred is far more detrimental to the game than Pete Rose. I despise Pete Rose as a human being but he should be in the Hall Of Fame because he was one of the best baseball players ever.
I think Adolis Garcia is a great baseball player but that moron stood at home plate admiring what he assumed was a home run only to see it bounce off the wall at which point he turned a double into a single by finally running to first base. He might want to learn something from Charlie Hustle.
OK, rant over - sorry.
Now I'll wait until March Madness as the NFL is also not my cup O' tea.
