There used to be a couple of places in local malls and toy stores that showed some very nice chess sets in their display windows. My son and I used to consider getting a nice set, but we both agreed we needed to improve our game first. That was just before he discovered computer gaming...and girls. I think he still lives here, but I haven't seen him much since then.

Glad ya like.
When I was a teenager I used to go a nearby mall and play video games and pinball. It was a blast. Anyway, there was a chess store in the mall that was loaded with wall to wall shelves full of chess sets. I would always stop by the store and look at all the different themed chess pieces, civil war, oriental, futuristic, etc. I have wonderful memories of those days. My mother got me the metal set from that store for one of my birthdays as well as a giant chess piece set the following year.
If you look on Amazon you can pick up some real nice sets for a very reasonable price.
