Are the "cosmetic issues" with Maestro the same as on Ventura? Or are there new ones?

Interesting about the second restart. You tried it after the update and the Symphony didn't work properly, but then after a second restart everything was normal again? Have you been using it consistently since without issue?

for me all drop down menus (in Maestro) are kind of reversed. so if you want to select something down you have to move the mouse up.

regarding the restart, I noticed this for a while now and it appears to me that this happens with every OS update, not only major ones. It's a one time thing though. Only the first boot after an update gives me headaches, every consecutive one works more or less flawless.

I'm in the process of upgrading to a Mac Studio and intended to use my Symphony IO Mk I as it should work (at least) with MacOs Ventura as their website states.

Unfortunately the power supply of the Symphony is broke (again), had the exact same problem around 5 years ago. I have a question at Apogee if they still have a third party in Europe that can fix it (or deliver a new power supply).

Anyway I went to look what the current Symphony line up is and it turns out that the Mk II is still their 'flag ship'. I think the Mk II was introduced shortly after the Mk I so it's already almost 10 years old. I saw it still has the Thunderbolt 2 IO for example. Is there any news that Apogee will come with something 'new' as their flagship model?

As I have been working so long with the Symphony I'm also way behind with potential competing devices from other manufacturers. Any suggestions? I use 24 analog inputs on my current model so that is a minimum requirement.

I recently fixed my PS by replacing all the caps!

That is another option! If one is handy with a soldering iron and patience. It's a simple job. Replacing all the caps with high temperature, long life, power caps from good brands like Nichicon/Panasonic, will most likely prevent another dead PSU....not sure what brand of caps they use in the power supplies, but it's not a hard job

The Symphony must live on! Apogee gear is some of the best sounding stuff...I just wish they upp'd their software/driver/support game.

I am still in love with the Symphony MK1, Rosetta, Duet2, and everything developed by Lucas van der Mee.

I moved to Spain and left my Mk1 in Canada because I thought it was a brick now with the Apple Silicon.

Decided to start recording some stuff again and I'm so f'ing stoked to see it is now compatible with the M series chips!!!!

Getting it shipped across the Atlantic shortly, and will likely be back with some questions re: getting it all to work!

Little update regarding OS X compatibility.

In OS X Sequoia, all drop down menus (input settings etc) are now empty boxes when clicked. You can still change parameters by clicking on the menue and go up and down with the cursor keys, but its a guessing game.

Dang. Looking like I’m upgrading to the new M4 mini and hope to use my mki with it. Anyone using this setup?

I am using a MKII SE with Sequoia. I found the latest version of control 2 did not work. It would not see my Symphony MKII even with current firmware . I had to revert to the version of Control 2 released prior to the latest. If one wants to revert to it ? It is on Apogee’s download page on the bottom under legacy .

Is this a Mk1 or Mk2 you are using?

Is Control only for the mkii chassis? Just bought a M3 Max MBP that came with Sequoia installed. Really crossing my fingers that it will just work since it looks like I have the latest firmware installed on the mki. XMOS 1.6.48. Also I think the next time I power this one down it might not start back up. Had to hit the power button about 40 times last time… might make the move to RME which would be a huge bummer, but I’ve already had this thing repaired 3 times.

That’s a good question I am not sure . I would have to check . In the Legacy software section on the Apogee site it should tell you.

Update for my sequoia/mki/m3 max/maestro/pro tools install day. Maestro 2 kinda works but doesn’t recognize any of the symphonys pres or DIs, any drop-down menu is blank (mic pre/di/+4/-10, also calibration and soft limit settings are unavailable), and my 3 monitor setting is unavailable. No mic pre gain available. Settings encoder only shows speaker and headphone level, pres not available. Seems my options are a new interface or mkii chassis.

Thanks for the report. I only have the line input/output cards, no preamps. I wonder if there is enough functionality left to squeeze one more OS upgrade out of it . Does the sample rate change from Mac OS Audio Midi Setup still work?

That's true and I would add and say ridiculous. Everything works- SYMPH Mk1, Maestro 2, but not the drop down menus... Im not going to throw to the garbage at least $7k of great conversion because of a menu so im thinking , make a few presets on a different computer if you need certain menu changes such as 32 or 64 I/o etc. and export them. Then you can always import them as presets. I really think it's uncool that everything works, there is no real technical limitation ti the hw OR software , yet they had to NOT adopt this detail of menus

Downgrade OSX, thats what I'll be doing. No reason to have the latest OSX, keep the tech chase for your iPad or hoodie machine.

Ended up returning the M3 and getting an M4 MBP. Just going to deal with it and maybe upgrade the chassis eventually. The M4 is kick ass though! What would have maxed out my old mini, I’m only hitting 10% on my CPU.

I also bought the m4 only to find out the thing w the menus. I dont think the cards in my mk1 can go into mk2 chassis. Ill try to downgrade to osx 14 if i find a wY. I know its tricky w these

Maestro 2 on Ventura stopped recognizing the Symphony, but it started recognizing it again after turning off SIP, "csrutil disable".

As far as I know, don't all Symphony i/o cards work in mkii chassis? I have 2 of the 1st gen units with 2 cards each, I don't see a way to make ADAT usable, I'd probably have to buy one mkii chassis and the other unit would be useless. I can't remember from the last time I bought a new computer, but will Apple let you copy the old HD onto a new computer via Time Machine without updating the OS? That would probably be my best solution until I can't use any of my other software with the old OS. Already O can't update Photoshop. What a pain.
