I was on youtube and came across a demo of this unit. I was stunned. I am demoing Soundtoys Decapitator at the moment and I think the two last settings are supposed to emulate this. I don't think so. Maybe I have bad ears, but they sound nothing alike, not even remotely.

This thing sounds incredible (the hardware) and tbh I've never heard anything like it itb. Not to start an itb debate, but I am hoping someone can tell me I am suffering from poor hearing and this expensive unit is nothing special compared to what you can achieve itb.

Otherwise I have to start saving

Distortion and overdrive and saturation is still very important for music, and I only trust in analog here after checking all plugins. There is good digital stuff around like bit crushing. Hybrid still rocks!

I have a few questions:

Firstly, how is the reliability of the CV? Have the newer units improved?

Secondly, how is the general noise floor/ background hum etc on the unit?

Thirdly, can it also be used lightly, to add "valve sheen" and midrange clarity, or I'd it basically always a distortion box even when used lightly?
