I have the Focal solo 6 be now , I have mixed on them for the last 3 years , looking to upgrade myself .
I have heard the two18 with the 500 and I was blown away by the details and the natural sound of them comparing solo 6.
I haven't heard the bearfoot yet ,but from what I'm picking up online, some think they are a game changer and some think they are overrated ..
I also have a chance getting PSI 25m for discounted price (I know they are bigger)

Will be happy to get some help with that

+1 for MM45. The sound from the 45's jumps out at you a little more than the Amphions, but some people like that. In that whole price range, MM45 is my favorite so far.

Honestly you can't really go "wrong" with any of them. Demo them in your room if possible. I went with the Amphion Two18s and I couldn't be happier.

They are all very good, though I don't like the voicing of the PSI speakers. But then, I went for the Amphion which is not bright, but certainly open in the top end. The MM45 I think some would find better balanced, but to me the transient response of the Amphion is what made the choice easy. NOTHING out there does the same thing

MM45's are my favorite Barefoot.
Very balanced. Nice tweeter and the low end is punchy while reaching lower than you might expect.

I had two18's and amp 500.
A bit warmer 100-200. Lovely tweeter. Don't reach as low or as punchy as the 45's (not a freq plot but just perception in my room).
Balanced while a bit forging around 1K.

Both are really good options and worthy of you demoing them and doing some mixes on them.

45's need an extra foot between your ears and the speakers to fully come together. Its a 3 way and needs just a wee bit more distance for the speaker to disappear. Two18's can handle shorter distances.

I've demo'd a lot of speakers in the past year and these are two of my fav's.

Haven't used the 45s. Own and love the 35s (and the other Barefoot models I've tried). If they're keeping their typical design agenda I expect it's just as good as the 35s with less headroom and low frequency extension. Barefoot makes fantastic systems with clarity, natural and open sound and clean bass presentation that makes mixing decisions easy to judge. I don't think they make anything that is less than a serious listening tool.

Honestly any of those would work for you. None of them are "me too" systems made to take advantage of the ignorant. Amphion is the flavor-of-the-moment on Gearslutz. But this kind of thing comes in cycles. I was around for ADAM being all the rage here, then Barefoot, then Focal, and there have always been others as well. It's not that they aren't what people can work with. It's that nothing can live up to the incessant hype. It's probably best to pick based on what you can get in your space and work with for a while. Send back the others.

Since you're already into the Focal family you might look into their Trio 6be. I've heard raves about them.

The 45 is a better speaker than the 35 if you ask me. To my ears, the barefoots got serious with the dedicated mid speakers. Both the 27 and 35 have the same problems to my ears. Too aggressive and brutal. The 45 is far more relaxed and well balanced.

That said, the Amphions is anything but flavour of the month - if that is your take on the popularity, you simply have not worked on them.

The Amphions are the perfect mix tool, great fun to work with, and inspires a more joyful musical mixing experience. The MM45 doesn't have that same quality, but I have never heard a 3 way system with phase response as accurate as a good 2-way, to be fair. The studio100 from Proac is a classic among the high-end mixers for a reason, and the Amphions in many ways built on that legacy. Excellent phase response and fun to work with.

It's all been said before and you will find a post stating the same rhetoric every time. Doesn't mean the speakers are bad, just over-hyped and you'll find them quickly bought and sold on the used market (in fact, you'll find plenty of Amphions now.)

Personally I find the mm35 and mm27 much better than the mm45 and mm26 for Barefoot so as usual with speakers, listener preferences matter and there is no "be all, end all" speaker.

The ProAc 100 is a mid-scooped hi-fi/audiophile type speaker. It did well against the NS-10 which was the exact opposite so they complimented each other. The ProAc 100 isn't "accurate" by any means (ie "flat".) ProAc 100 = lows and highs; NS-10 = mids

I tried PMC , sounded "plasticish" it's like if you want to explain someone about what are DSP monitors , they are the perfect example for that.
I had enough of focal , a lot of hype to Much of injections to make people go wow , phase issues and hidden mid range .
Didn't like quested I actually don't understand how can anyone like'em .
Adam are ok but far from being high end , psi are greate but something is missing for me there.
ATC are a great monitors but you can't really sit in front of them everyday all day they are just not pleasant to listen to.
Genelec are not as good as focal.
Never heard Bearfoot but I hear and read mixed opinions about them.
Etc .. Etc ..
In my journey I've come to realize that you can't fit 20 kilo of amp inside of wooden box and get away with it .
It's not about speakers /build quality/amazing engineering/innovative spirit/all about the love of music anymore .
It's about selling ,and being the best at it .
Bearfoot are very good at marketing , actually all I can see is bearfoot, everywhere.
It's a very aggressive marketing (we will put our product next to the leading mixing engineers all over)
That way you almost feel like you'll never be able to produce a high profile mix unless you'll get these.
Most of the people never heard bearfoot but yet they will say they are the best !

Most of the company's now days Injecting over power to speakers, most of them are DSP engineered .

Saying all that
Few days ago Amphion's Local dealer brought some speakers to my studio .
For me , it's just a different animal.
For the first time i heard mixed in a different way , I heard music in a different way .
I mixed using them for an hour or so, listen to my references.
I can't really compare them to anything else it's like 2016's ns10 , easy to listen to very clear all spectrum very tight lows - no hype.
I have to say those are not the kind of speakers to impress clients with , they sound so natural and focused .
I went with the two 18 with the 500amp yesterday .

PSI are fantastic out of those. THe best id say.

I will be getting a pair of Lipinskis soon. Similarly priced and apparently the best of the bunch. But I haven't heard em yet.. Hopefully these will get me that midrange and treble I get from the much cheaper HD800 headphones which I have yet to find monitors which compare.

Accurate? What monitor is "accurate"? The whole notion of a studio monitor being "flat" is ridiculous. Flat in relation to what? They are ALL compromises, and each manufacturer will take a series of measures to find what they think is the best compromise. For barefoot it is DSP To compensate for physical limitations and design compromises - Amphion is let's build the best box we can, with minimal electronic interference.

The Studio100 is not about accuracy, it's about making the right mix choices.

I actually stopped using my HD 800 after I got the Amphion One15. The One15 has everything the HD 800 has, and more, in a speaker form.

Congrats on choosing Amphions. I'm a big fan of them, the company and especially its founder who ranks on my list of best peeps in the biz.

I quoted your comments about barefoot though as i think they are incredibly unfair.
Thomas is a genius and an incredibly humble one at that. He started the company basically in this forum, building in his small garage, and breaking new design ground along the way.
Marketing ???? there was none. Just early adopters who loved them.
The fact that "name" engineers now use them is just how it worked out over time. Word of mouth and time, which is what is happening with amphion right now (although barefoot word of mouth was much slower paced).

Hanging with Tomas is much like hanging with Anssi. Two guys, utterly passionate about speakers, who believe in their design ideas and are fighting incredible odds trying to build sustainable companies in a noisy global market. And both are doing it while being humble, passionate, awesome peeps.

Just something to keep in mind in these types of discussions.

I actually preferred the transients with PSI.

That sounds great... Like so far ATC, and Barefoots haven't impressed me completely in terms of their overall resolution compared to the HD800s though I do like that speaker ooomph. The PSI's I tried once I thought were fantastic, and the transients remind me of the HD800s but with the speaker oomph. Keep hearing great things about amphion. I hope the Lipinskis do it too. They are here next week.

I fully understand and agree. The HD 800 are something special in sheer resolution. I've had Hifiman HE-500, Audeze LCD-2 and LCD-3 in the past, but the HD 800 is something else. Their bass is very linear and goes quite deep like sealed speakers. I think a full range system like ATC SCM150, Amphion Two18+Base One25, Amphion Krypton 3 should get there.

No hype I was not in the market for monitors. I had monitors I liked and they were definitely in the high end side of things. Fact is the Amphions after having in my room for three weeks? It was just obvious the Amphions made decisions easier.
They also showed confidence in the mix, as in if it sound good on the Amphions it sounded great on other systems.

Now I heard the MM45's and did like them. Though for me they would have been the next leg up budget wise . I also look at them as being a monitor one might run alongside a set of Amphions. As the MM45's gave me the big wow impress the client, larger than life vibe.

That's my opinion, based on what I heard and no I did not spend weeks with the Barefoot.

I currently have Amphion one18;s next to BF mm27's gen 2.
the Amphions are my ns10 replacement.flat,not hyped.almost generic sounding in a good way.
the BF's are the big deep detail speakers.you can really hear into the mix.
I also had the 45's in next to the One18's and two18's.
all good speakers but If I had to choose only one set of speakers [btw Amphion/BF 45],my ears preferred the depth/extension of the 45's.

I currently have the amphion two18 with the baseone25 and I love it.

Now I am setting up a secondary studio for writing and production, and I Want to get another set of speakers but I am not sure if i should just get another pair of amphions like the One18 or try something new.

I am hearing great things about the mm45 and I have always been intrigued by the barefoot brand.

It’s impossible for me to demo these since there is no dealers where I am.

Just hoping to get some feedback from you guys. Would you just get the same speakers in a secondary room or try something else?
