Yes they all have a signature but if the mix is feeling good (with various hardware parallel buss chains I use) I’ve learned over the years more often less is more.
Same goes for final mix buss compression.
They all have a sound.
example:Vacuvox u23’s meters pulling a 2-4 db into a Curvebender= a vibe I like
They both add something and often very little to no eq is needed.
Itb eqs (for me) are typically leaning towards subtractive.the stock PT eq 7 and fabfilter or an SSL style channel work fine.
Simple,familiar and intuitive..fast results.
