Editing Midi .. HELP !!! just trying to cut a Midi Region in half and keep both - wow I am stupid

I have read the manual too many times and I still cannot figure out what I am doing wrong .. maybe a preference !!!

I have a midi track in 1 track View Mode .. I have a drum midi track programmed .. I choose One Note and try to cut it in half - leaving both halves !! sounds simple .. well, no matter what config of Tools I choose, when I grab the Scissors to cut it Chops everything after the playhead (have it set on playhead not mouse) on The Note I am trying to Cut and some lower down on the piano roll .. Only One Note is Highlighted at the time ..

my workaround: choose Note and trim it to where there is nothing .. then Draw in a New Note where I want it .. I am just trying to cut a Kick Drum Note into Two Kick Drum notes so I have two different hits ..

I am positive this is Operator Error ... thx in advance
