And FTR I'd say Charisma is a good word for the Subby, but not just its sound but the overall package. No it's not a minimoog and I'm glad it isn't. Also NO wobbly pots or knobs here - just nice feel n great build.

I totally agree. I do like the Dom1 and will likely get one in the future but contrary to what has been said about it regarding sound and build the Sub is clearly superior IMO. Flexibility is the Dom's strong point vs the Sub.

Now that I have tried both out I can say 100% that the knobs of the 37 are much nicer and by far less wobbly - not as bad as on some videos (move two by moving one) but still not as firm as the 37. My friend also had problems with the the Dom's chassis not fitting the keybed properly too and had to perform a manual fix (bend) to his new unit so that the keys didn't get stuck down. Soundwise too it was not as meaty and powerfull in the flesh as I had expected from some of the demos and reports - flexible sure but not as much immediate mojo. Whereas the 37 is greater than the sum of its parts the Dom needs the sum of its parts to be great.

MFB became famous through making cut-price analogue synths. Moog became famous through creating top of the line analogue synths. Legacy is legacy, after all. Presumably the Dominion 1 could have been in Vermona 14 territory price-wise if MFB had not cut a few corners with the build. What Moog have acheived with the price of the Sub37 is quite astonishing, really.

I think its easy to agree that both synths are very very good. They rather complement each other. I'll have to have them both i guess. Started with a D1 tho and now waiting its delivery. Sub 37 might come later when money permits.

I'm still on the fence between the Sub37 and the Dom1. But having a voyager I keep leaning towards the Dom1, but I can always use another moog voice....

on the apparent 'knob wobble' I read this over on the moog forums - basically it claims latest builds (don't know how many months that goes back - but mine was only made in march 2015 its S/N is in the 4000s!) have the same cut off knob as the voyager which is apparently heavier, stiffer and feels better quality. Maybe that's why some of us are saying the knobs feel great while those who bought early were less than impressed.

My biggest complaint about the Sub 37 has always been the filter knob. It's nice to see that Moog has apparently recognized this and changed the build. Too bad it takes a board replacement; it would be great if the upgrade could be performed by the user.

I saw a suitcase full of cash with moog logo on background.
Just not sure why...
