Single-sided phenolic PCB with hot-melted ribbon cables w/ direct-soldered connections because they don't even want to pay for proper connectors on all boards. This is consumer electronics grade stuff.

Minimal 5V single supply power supply with no input protection.

FR4 PCB's w/ proper Ribbon and FFC connectors for all connections. Robust power supply supply with proper +/-12V DC-DC conversion and regulation, also includes overvoltage and current protection.
One is built like Chinese consumer electronics, the other is built more like a professional musical instrument, in my opinion.
