with the release of the new Roland machines, it looks like everyone and Mr. Varaldo is in the mood to break out some acid. let's do it!
plenty of flaws, but considering the circumstances i'm pretty happy with it. this is the first video i've ever recorded, please excuse the camera audio. i knew this would be a problem, so i set it to record the audio on a separate channel inside Ableton. no idea how to sync them, so i posted the audio here:

Not sure if it qualifies as Acid Techno, but I'm sure a few of you will know the song I covered with my bandmate. One of the first electronic songs I ever finished.

Can't resist...
Track I made with a friend.. we were hanging out, before we both had to go work together... he wanted to use a sample from Zelda when Link hits an enemy but doesn't kill them.... loose jam... No effects..
909, 606, 303 .. and a Zelda sample... made as a "goof"... named after Tadao..
The ominous 'acid line' / 303 has become such a cliched sound. Goa / Psy are some of the few remaining genres where you can still find it in almost every second track. It looks like the Aira line will be responsible for a resurgence. Seriously, this reminds me of the entire Rockabilly culture where people choose to focus their creativity on an era that is long gone because of a sense of nostalgia instead of creating something new.
This is probably that track of mine that is closest to an acid track. I have no true acid synth (303, x0xb0x, etc) so it's not truly accurate as emulation goes (I used my eurorack modular sequenced from an EA-1).
So tempting to turn my 909 and 303 on and pulling the camera out....
Seriously cant do it, working on other things and need to remain focused.
Great work guys, was wiggling my ass writing this post!!!!

Same goes for the 808.
Just let the acid folk have some fun, BTW nothing wrong with the sound on this thread, just dont understand why you have to ruin the fun with such a post.
Seriously no need for it.
Now bring on the acid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will play if Varaldo will play. I intend to use full retro set: Akai S1100, Roland SH-101, Prophet VS, Mackie CR1604 and DP4+. No overdub or multitracking, just straight off Mackie into A/D.

cheating... no external MIDI sequencers.... only "boxes".. and hands..

Doesnt sound too bad for camera audio!
i ignored your request of course, I only read the first four lines of any post
I've never produced a straight-up acid techno track in my life. But I'm loving the tracks on this thread so much I might just have a crack at it. I don't really have the proper equipment, though. Would something like a Promars + Jupiter4 + CR8000 work, do you think?
Acid/techno experts, please help me choose the right instruments before I set off on the wrong path. I'm now thinking 2x Dark Energy + Dark Time + TR-606 might be more suitable than Promars + JP4 + CR8000. Any advice would be most welcome.
I don't have time to record a new video because I'm quite busy preparing my next Acid live gig. Speaking of which, here's a small teaser I made yesterday.
If you're in Berlin this Saturday then set your steps towards Sameheads, NeukΓΆlln
I have probably posted this clip in another thread already but since we're doing acid jam videos I think it's worth a repost. Starring x0xb0x, Acidlab Miami, Slim Phatty, Cirklon, et al.
@maisonvague: the 303 is key to acid, or more so it's behaviour.. here are the key elements: monophonic saw wave or square wave (which is really a transistor wave shaped saw), 4-pole diode ladder filter (behaves like 18db/oct filter) & VCA/VCF EG with decay. The (step) sequencer is even more important, it uses slides, rest notes & accent. You can try and simulate these behaviours with various synths (using on/off portamento and 3-pole filter if possible) & step sequencers by keeping in mind those parameters.. for drums i'd go with the 606 in 4/4 anywhere above 115BPM. good luck

jp-4 can do aceeed, so obviously thr promars can too, not 303 type but its own flavour, need the right sequencer to run it though
