That's definitely handy to know if full repairs become necessary (hopefully not). I do think changing just the ribbon plastic myself should be easy enough. Just need to source a suitable plastic replacement. Until I take the old plastic out I can't tell the thickness or flexibility of the material.

Not sure if this is gonna work or not (I have never sussed out how to upload an image). Took out the old vinyl ribbon material & replaced it with a 3D tropical fish bookmark as this was the closest material I had to hand. Old material is 0.5mm by 63mm by 130mm. Was relatively easy to do & my new ribbon material works quite well but not quite sensitive enough - but crucially works smoothly.. I do intend to find some plain vinyl material of the correct thickness & then will remove & replace the bookmark vinyl.

Anyone advise how to upload photo (using ipad & photo on ipad)?

Have now applied under the bookmark material a thin layer of vinyl from a copy pocket & now the 3d tropical fish ribbons work perfectly. I think bookmarks have a very thin paper layer under them so may effect conductivity - hence the idea of the additional thin plastic layer.

3D tropical fish is the only thing that could make the D1 better!

So have experimented with a number of different thicknesses / types of plastic sheet to replace the ribbon sheet. The perfect replacement is PVC sheet, 0.3mm thick. This works perfectly & with just as much sensitivity as the original material. Managed to get the sheet from eBay, used for modelling & other such uses. Not quite as pretty as the 3D tropical fish sadly.
Only factor I can’t be sure of will be the durability of the material but at £4 for 3 A4 size sheets I have a lifetime’s worth of spare material.

Coming in the next firmware update, I’m told….

Its been a while but has anyone tested this 1.19 fw?

Its funny because I just prepared a demo video for a fiverr gig and realized that the Dominion reacts to program change messages. So I put together a session real quick with Loopy Pro and a Launchpad where every pad sends a PC followed by a MIDI note but discovered that the synth is a bit slow to change presets in this setting. 1.19 FW seems to address this issue relying on the change log so I wonder if it could replace my current workaround.

I added a time offset by sending the PC via cable and the Note On via Bluetooth so there is a natural latency occuring there and it seems to work most of the time. Other times you get glitches, which are sometimes really nice sounding, at least to my ears.
Anyway, I was just blown away that my synth can do this real-time so I recorded a few measures on 1.18. In reality it is like the Aphex mode on the Novation Bass Station 2 so I will just leave the video here, maybe it inspires some of you guys to give some more love to this wonderful machine.

Something weird happened to my Dom1 and the patches I had on it were replaced by some crap. On one patch I can hear a square wave sound even though all the osc are down. How's that possible?

Does anyone have have the Dominion 1 - Factory Sounds.syx file? + tips with Midiox on how to send it? Reduced speed?

Or is there another way to do a factory reset?

edit: I might need a firmware update as well? Anyone got the 1.18?

I was able to update the kb, the fw to 1.18, but the factory patches just didn't go.

However, my Dom1 is alive again, thanks to this. It was really strange: before when I saved a patch (deffo saved) and then tried to load it again, there was this old messy patch. However, now the patches save again. I don't really care for the factory patches anyway, just very glad this rare beast is working again.

edit: some time ago realised now nice it sounds to tune the osc 2 and 3 differently from osc1
