I feel like your AJ sounds better,less plastic and filmsy than my AJ1. Do you know if there are some capacitors that need to be replaced or anything else after 40 years?

Or are these patches not raw and processed?

No, I wasn't aware of it, thanks for letting me know I will check it out. The MKS-70 is the synth that was bought/sold most often for me (x3), loved the sound, hated the noise floor...

Similar to the JX3p and the MKS30. The MKS is a mix of JX3p and Juno design.

If Martin would code an ARM version for Mac, I'd happily pay for it. PG-8X is phenomenal...and it sounds as good as my old JX-8P.

Dunno, maybe it has to do with the fact that AJ1 lacks velocity? It certainly has a little bit of delay/reverb in some patches in this clip, but they do not change the overall sound at all. I kept the effects low for that particualr reason.
Also, did you try playing your AJ1 through another MIDI keyboard? When aJuno keyboards get old, their keyboards suck. I play my AJ2 through an AKAI MPK49, it definitely sounds better, brighter, more dynamic. It's like the original old keyboard can achieve velocity numbers up to around 70-80, but an external MIDI full 127 value. Of course playing through the latter, sounds better.

Everything works fine on my AJ1 and I play it through my midi keyboard too that has velocity and aftertouch . The AJ1's keyboard has no velocity and aftertouch either but it can receive these midi messages through external midi though,so that shouldn't make a difference with yours.
Maybe I just don't have your programming abilities ,I don't know...

there's a filter offset trimmer on the pcb, but i'd recommend finding out more about it first. it might be envelope mod centre. i messed around with it in my aJ1 many years ago.

er yeah i had no idea what i was doing so don't just go in there and start mucking it up :-)
i had a pg-300 and tha aj1 with the top off, seeing if i could squeeze anything more of it. it just seemed like it was an offset, from what i remember - a bit like the way there's an envmod offset trimmer in the TD3.

the amazing thing is it can be interfaced as controller for the aj - my question as i dont own the vst yet-has anybody successfully used a midi controller to send cc to the vst and then pass that fwd to the aj? or does it not work like that?

I’m using it like that in Reason and it works.. I’ve noticed glitches if I use separate control surfaces and keyboards but that’s remedied in reason by setting up a remote script for my controller for TAL-Pha.

you'd do Midi Learn, which is about VST Index Numbers, which are given to every UI control - so yeah it's midiCC but assigned arbitrarily to anything you want, with VST Index as interface, and then it spits out sysex on the other side. for 2-way operation, VST receives patch sysex from device, and updates UI controls accordingly.

i know how it would work, i was wondering if the vst allowed the thru of CC and converted live to sysex turns out based on above user it does what i hoped for

basically allowing any midi controller to be set up for my aj

... and you already have several CTRLR panels for that, of which @ dnaldoog2 version, which, if i recall, has a librarian.

although of course it does not produce sound, as a substitute JU1, on the move etc.

and .. templates for AJ exist for Novation RemoteSL ..
