I don't see one for general purpose personal computer platforms, this is not their priority. The problem for small specialised companies developing workarounds is that when the major companies move the goalposts they are left high and dry with years of work and investment wasted. Anything requiring software for a commercial computer means a commitment to support it through every future change. Endless re-work to keep the same product. Look how many times Apple have changed their CPUs in the last 20 years...

Yes, I make one: Gearbox. The problem with using audio tones is exactly the same as when they were used for tape machine synchronisation: any drop out puts you behind and any noise puts you ahead because every edge in the signal matters. Also start/stop information needs another channel. I have one customer using it for live performances who puts a start pulse on every bar to generate a reset pulse to synchronise analogue sequencers just in case there is an audio glitch in the clock tone. Of course, any glitch in that audio channel would have the opposite effect.
I did work out how to do a Tempo Code that would work like SMPTE LTC, but I couldn't see enough people willing to buy it that would pay for the development. A box to "stripe" a track and decode it would cost as much as a tape machine synchroniser.
For most people the solution is cheap: record the synth output in a DAW and edit it.
