Last night I was delving in "Beats" territory and was having a blast, so I decided to upgrade my DAW and hopefully produce some tracks.

Didn’t see this one started yet, so kicking it off, I picked up a pre-loved one of these for a good price - lots of fun so far, if quite a lot of manual reading too!

Vintage NOS Peugeot pepper mill. Damn I didn't realize what a joy it could be to grind pepper until I got this. Coarse, fine, in-between with the turn of a thumbscrew? What evil genius thinks of this stuff?

Just an edit: it's actually something I got last week, but couldn't share here, so decided to share on June.

Started off the month with my first new synth in 4 years, a Matriarch Dark. So far really enjoying it, and forsee lots of patching within this architecture.

I moved my post from the May thread to June since it was today that I got it. Yeah, I'm so stoked! So many new instruments and sound packs in Ableton Live Suite 10!

This came today, still in the box, but soon to be deployed. Already RTFM. Again.

Mostly restraining myself this year, confining myself to rearranging my studio for usability, so the big purchase was a patchbay + cables. Set it up yesterday, everything already seems faster. Could not totally control myself, however--along with the patchbay I ordered a Chandler Germanium Drive pedal. Enjoying it a lot, very sharp hifi sound

It wouldn't be a Studio B if it didn't grow out of control, right? What was supposed to be just a few grooveboxes now needs this monster, and man did I get it for a steal!



Big is awesome. He's influenced my gear purchases as well, especially with regards to software.

Haven't been in great spirits recently so kept head low, but managed to sell my JP8080 for a good price and use some of the proceedings to buy this little monster.

I had thought about the Sub37 but with studio space limitations, decided this fitted in better, I totally love that there are only 16 preset memory spaces as that forces you to really make an effort to get the best out of the synth. Having 100's of preset spaces kind of makes you lazy. One of the reasons I sold the Pro 3.

This Subsequent 25 feels and acts like a vintage mono synth. The placibo of its limitations (in this case) speaks volumes on how I use it and react to it. Nice also to finally have a Moog keyboard in my setup (Only have Mother 32 & Minitaur otherwise). Am also suprised how beautiful the creamy leads are on this synth, Thought bass was its main forte.

Looks great. I have had a similar experience with the Matriarch, which is my first piece of Moog kit (surprisingly, as I got into analog synths over a decade ago!). The bass is killer, without question, but the LEADS are just gorgeous. And with a much wider range than I had anticipated. They don't always scream "Moog."

Hope you're feeling better. I noticed you've been missing for a while and was hoping you were doing ok. I know all about having low spirits myself.I got a Matriarch a few weeks ago and you got a Subsequent 25. Congrats! Has it gotten the official feline inspection yet?

And I agree on Moog "creaminess". There's just something about that filter. Moogs are great bass and lead machines, and they generally have huge sweet spots. I guess that's why I have 3 of them.

Thanks, Yeah lost a few close people recently and kind of started questioning myself and losing interest in everything. Guess it will pass. Time heals all and that sort of thing.

Yes, you just cannot get that Moog sound anywhere else. I thought other synths I had could do it well enough, but when you get one in person, you realise how 'that' charactor and width of sound is missing. I have just been using the Subsequent 25 + Elektron Cycles (which I also got recently) to jam on. Simplicity at its best. Add an RC505 looper and before you know it, you realise a few choice pieces and simplicity can turn everything around. Wish the 25 had aftertouch, but you can't have everything.

No cat interest yet. Probably weary of the immence bass that thing throws out.

A Push 2 to go with that Ableton license.

Yeah, I have the first generation and I read that Push 2 is gonna or has been discontinued. I would assume that perhaps they'll release a Push 3

Good. Some sort of Grid controller makes a big difference with Ableton. At least you have a v1.

Unbefrigginlievable. Ever since I started buying second hand gear 40 years ago, I have promised myself at least one time a year that I was not going to buy any new gear; I already had all I wanted. Often I have actually believed it for several days. This one bought at end of may but arrived first of june, so I report it here and stuff any promises where the sun don't shine.

^^^ Thanks, guys. Actually I was freaking out just a moment ago and ran to my the PC to report this in excitement. I have named her Victoria, for she is a queen indeed. I have spent some days running through her arsenal and structure. I came to the conclusion that she is going to be my ultimate lead synth. I need my various flutes, bagpipes, shakuachis, horns, hurdy gurdy, violins and yadadada, and I have just programmed a very very expressive shaku, using just one of my own samples, the Variphrase trick and some cool programming of aftertouch, the TT pad and the D-Beam. When I added my breath controller to the deal, I blew myself away, thus this manic report. BOOOM! She is a Tribe of Hofund synth, if I have ever met one. HOT!

My Teenage Engineering OP-1 should be arriving tomorrow. I wanted the new Field but since it’s out of stock everywhere I didn’t feel like waiting months for me to get the money and then wait even longer for it to be back in stock, so I pulled the trigger on a used one. It’s supposed to be the one with the newer screen and I hope it is but it will do the trick either way.

Too much this month, (probably enough till end of this year).
TR-8S, KeystepPro (black), JU-06A, Subharmonicon, bunch of eurorack modules... and ordered a Hydrasynth desktop just 5 mins ago.

And line 6 Pod Go earlier this month, but that's from another universe. :-)

Those look like high quality knobs. How do they feel when you turn them.

Temporarily fill it 1/4 way up with some BBs and use it as a shaker on a track!

the pots are HQ and are running smooth but not too smooth and the grip is fine too, so perfectly to me - the knobs are plastic (nothing special)

That's actually a great idea. I'm always looking for new sounds. Seriously.
