Yes because that’s what “everybody” does with their computer. Lol come on. Ppl abuse that shit and this is what the sound of modern music is.

I haven’t even started yet tbh. The fact that you think calling me “snooty” or “elitist” or anything like that would evoke a negative reaction from me is just wildly hilarious to me.

Your broad brush is pretty reductive. Absolutism is a drone with some irritating frequency spikes.
So you’re saying that absolutism is absolutely bad? lol don’t try to think your way out of this. You might hurt yourself or others.

We're in late stage capitalism, and already in whatever stage of our technology thing where it's doing more damage than good. Life changes. There's no way to ever replicate those days again, or any decades before. It's just going to be an exercise in frustration to try and do so, and trying to angrily slam some imaginary gavel about the issue during our present decade(s) isn't going to lead to anything fruitful either. If the 90's were full of great music it didn't come from fist slamming about the issue.
I couldn’t be less interested in replicating anything.
What I am interested in is understanding why music is trash now and nobody seems to care. This is of great interest to me. It’s almost like ppl are pranking themselves.

There's still great music out there. I find it and enjoy it still.
I’m going to add this to my signature so I don’t have to repeat it:
I probably buy more newly made music than almost anybody on this board. I go thru tons of stuff all the time looking for what I want. Ppl pay me to play music. This doesn’t mean that there isn’t far less good music today than previously, or that the average and median quality level of new music is not lesser than it used to be.

I'm also partial to the music of my youth, as are most people. Everyone says their generation was better because they're all right about that, generally speaking.
I was born in 1979. Why do I think 60s music is better than today’s music? It’s not nostalgia for my youth as I was not even close to being alive.
You’re going to have to face the fact that just because some idiots can’t move past what they liked when they were 16, that’s not how it is for everybody. I just play music from earlier decades and then I play current music and it’s not a close competition. My general theory is that starting with blues and then jazz and then r&b and then rock n roll in the early half of the 20th century, we saw unprecedented leaps in musical ideas and what could pass for music. That increasing arc of quality peaked somewhere in the mid 90s before plateauing a bit and then falling off a cliff starting in about 1998. The year I was 18, so was I just nostalgic for the 70s I didn’t live when I was getting into dub and spiritual jazz and the like because new music started being more and more trash? Lol

Humanity has been on the same timeline toward extinction for a long time and technology across the board has always moved faster than our morality. We invent stuff and not long after we use it in a way that benefits a few at the expense of the many. We talk a lot of trash but we suck at evolution.
Also, I make music every single day. I am making the music of today. Are you? If you're still making music that satisfies your standard then crack a smile every once in awhile because then by definition it's not s lost cause. You seem angry dude. Literally nothing to be angry about. Go make great music. Put some positive vibes out there. Disrupt the math.
It’s funny I’m not angry at all really. I’m just tired of bullshit and bullshitters. Ppl want to gaslight me and say “there’s just as much good music now as there ever was”. The **** there is.
I still make and release music and interact socially with ppl on the kind of wavelength I am. We used to call this thing “underground” back when it was a common enough perception to be a sub or counterculture.
Just think about that. Counterculture. Culture that goes against the dominant culture.
Computer bullshit is the dominant culture. And everybody is just going with the flow.
Not me. **** that.
