yeah but by the sound of it, it will get him quite close to his objective, and he still has a few variations of any sound to choose from once it's transferred over, and the rest can be 'post-production'. he can keep the flexibility of what he has on the keyboard while it remains in 'composition' stage, finalise with whatever he wants afterwards, including downloading a mega-killer piano soundfont - or whatever else. (including knocking up his own soundfont with Viena if necessary).
shout out for AWave as well, which is a very handy sf2 creator for some things, if you want to do it quick'n'dirty.
btw: i've converted completely insanely detailed SF2 to EMU ESi format using Translator - with some little issues but not very surprising, if you take a mini GM soundfont like Gort's GM sf2, which cheats and uses additive techniques to get some waveshapes

just wanted to see if it could do it, but it was a bit much for the EMU architecture, probably. i'll have to have another go at that some day (yeah i know nobody cares about this; just sayin'. i've always chucked a load of wavs into sf2, as a soundbank. it works quite well. i just don't take the time to follow through with these things and develop them.)
