Was looking to get a Blofeld. One thing it doesn't lack is character, lets see how this sounds but automatically the keyboard is a black mark against it.

The graph isn't showing everything. The wavetables have "morph" and "modifiers":

Morph
The 13 Morph Types let you stretch, squeeze, reflect, and otherwise alter the wavetables in real-time, changing their timbre and—when modulated—creating additional motion in the sound. Sync creates classic swept-sync timbres, using only a single oscillator. Three special Morph Types—FM, AM, and Ring Mod—modulate Osc 2 with Osc 1, and even apply to samples.

Modifiers
Use over 30 Modifiers to alter the character of any wavetable at load time. For instance, isolate the odd or even harmonics, add weight through anti-aliased quantization or saturation, or revisit the gritty character of old-school wavetable synths with the Vintage 8 & 12 options.

Full disclosure: I have 3 Waldorf Blofeld keybeds and 1 module.
Somewhat of a Blofeld fan-person!

But also a Korg fan-person with 6 Monotribes, and MS-20Kit,
and a Korg EA-1, a Volca Modular, a Volca Kick, and a Volca Drum.

I will defer judgement of the Modwave until I can read the manual.

Tried to love the Wavestate, just couldn't get behind the 37 keys and the display and returned it. I love the OpSix sounds and the idea of the Modwave, but I won't be buying anything 37 keys, or mini keys again. Love my DW8000 though..thats my favorite filter. If they made either the Modwave or the OpSix in 61 keys I'd have both. The thought of all 3 combined into one great synth is amazing though. 61 with aftertouch and a nice display is exciting, I just wish Korg could get excited about it.

Absolutely love the Wavestate and its form factor, and keyboard, too! Thought I was done. This one is an instabuy for me; love this as much as I did the Boutiques, from Roland. Korg is on a roll with this approach! very happy to see this.

Dear Korg, please note that a small English company (Modal) came out with a 37-key wavetable synth at a comparable price, and then came out with a desktop version and a 61-key version, with MPE support to boot. (And they did all that again with another synth.) Hint, hint.

I don’t think the point of this synth is to be a replicant of the 80’s DW sonically, but a modern reinterpretation (like Korg’s last few releases).

Wouldn’t be the first time Korg transplanted the waves into a synth to add that Digital Waveform DNA. They’ve been mining for decades now.

I have both and yes the DW-6000 does output lower unless you wiggle the cable just right...but that could just be my unit being faulty.

It *can* sound reasonably close; the NJM2069 filter (DW) is technically quite similar to the SSM2044 filter (Polysix), both being 24 dB/oct OTA designs, if I'm not mistaken. High resonance is somewhat different, though on the modwave you have some options there due to the input filter gain (you can leave a lot of headroom for the resonance, increasing its effective volume - or the opposite, clamp it down early). In general, its capabilities are so far beyond the original DW series, in so many ways, that it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to limit the demos to that...

modwave and wavestate are both developed by my group at Korg R&D. opsix is developed by a different, talented group in Japan, and the instrument has its own unique style and identity. I can't answer about their future plans, if any.

First thing I thought was to have 'Wavestate, Opsix, and Wavemod' buttons
on one board in this format, to choose between them.

The layout is so similar that while it would have significant hurdles to overcome,
it doesn't seem like it would be impossible.

Very interested in this and may sell my Hydrasynth if there are no gotchas. I want to see how the editor looks, I just got a Minitaur and love having an editor. Also love that it comes with samples, and the sequencing is obviously way beyond the Hydra. Time will tell but it looks promising!

That’s my take on it. This is for people who are adverse to using software, but if you’re cool with a plugin, something like Massive X blows it away in every sonic way, except for voice count, which I don’t really need. Funny it imports Serum wavetables... I’ll just stay in Serum.

Funny they mention DW-8000... but they don’t even model that creamy filter, which really is the strength of that synth, IMO. The DW-8000 was one of my favorite synths that I’ve ever owned, even though I only had one for a few years before moving to a workstation keyboard.

I’m still waiting for someone to release my ultimate hardware wavetable synth. People keep coming close and then missing. Here’s my dream synth...

• 8 or more voices.
  
• Lots of 128 or higher wavetable options plus the ability to import wavetables.
  
• VCO option or VCO model.
  
• Wave morphing options, ala Serum, Icarus, Massive X, etc.
  
• Per voice distortion/drive options, like filter drive, VCA drive, ala Peak. (Analog or digital is fine, as long as it sounds great)
  
• Great filter options. Analog or digital, as long as the models are great. Two per voice, please.
  
• 4 LFOs and loopable MSEGs
  
• 16 slot mod matrix
  
• Oscillators as mod sources.
  
• Effect parameters tied into mod matrix.
  
• MPE and polyphonic aftertouch capable.
