I'm eager to hear your impressions, Pounce. I have 11, but it never worked very well for me. It's encouraging that much of the Mac code has been rewritten for Cocoa. I'm also encouraged by the export of patch lists.

Looks like a decent upgrade overall, but I'm waiting for some initial reviews.

Hmmm. Does it run on Mac OS 10.13 an 10.14? The website only mentions Mac OS up to 10.12....

I thought that software was historically a buggy pos? Seems like a lot of clams for fingers crossed software. Maybe they ironed out all of the bugs in this version?

Can the editor windows be resized / fullscreen on this new version?

yep, very buggy, used it for a while and went back to sounddiver which covers everything I own in terms of synths. Never looked back...

Many moons ago I preferred Unisyn or Soundiver. Now, though, it’s the only game in town as a universal editor librarian. I’ve only just installed the new version so I can’t speak to its performance yet, but it is a re-written program that supports synths that the old editor librarians didn’t, and those old librarians don’t run on my computer anymore so it’s a moot point. I have enough hardware synths and enough patches that I want to organize into performance banks and such that a universal editor librarian is almost essential in my studio space.

I'm most excited to have Prophet-X support. I have the Soundtower editor but barely touch it. MidiQuest's Set, Bank and Collection patch saving is what I like the most that beats every other editor in being able to categorize all fav patches by any criteria to audition.


I've been using Midiquest since the early 2000s and never had an issue unless you count old synths that don't play nice with Sysex but that's not MQ's fault.

Soundquest - if you can do the Minilogue, please do the Prologue. That can't be a hard one to get a hold of. I'd love to be able to see the Main and Sub layers on screen to see what they are doing.

The support for all my synths is there apparently. For that kind of money I would expect a better GUI, not that amateur ****. Sigh...

All I’ve ever wanted is a decent Andromeda editor.

I wanted the Andromeda to be editable. The midi implementation does not allow it to receive an auditioned patch into an active buffer so a librarian was impossible.

I had a TB Midi app on my iPad that worked great for a couple years. Now it’s no longer liading and I’m not sure why. But somehow they made it work. Tweaks on the app were heard live on the synth.

Editing the synth live was possible as long as the patch you are editing was live on the synth. But what the Andromeda couldn't do was have saved patches from the editor be sent then edited. All I know is I contacted Michael at Soundquest about why I could not use MQ with the Andromeda and he said there was a midi issue concerning replacing the current patch in memory with a patch from MQ.

Can I program VAST on my k2600 with this?

I don't know of any editor that can do that. Front panel it is, then!

PC3 Envelope Controller from Godlike Productions.

If I may quote 'Puppeteer':

"This panel allows for direct control of the PC3 (and later synths) envelope parameters using the same type of messages used by the official PC3 Editor. Support for the standard panel controls for most Kurzweil synthesizers from the K2000 is also provided on the Controllers tab."

Is supposed to work for K2K series ,though designed for the PC series.

Worth a look imo I intend to try it myself when I have time with my K2000.

You may be think its quite amateurish. I think it runs fast on many cheap computers like my grandmothers. She loves to edit her DigiTech Legend II

K2000 cpu is too slow to keep up with being edited via sysex. It slows down your programming to a snails pace. You tweak a parameter and then have to sit back while it catches up. If you haven't dialed in the correct value you tweak again and then take another break while it catches up.
Editing via sysex is too slow to be usable imho.

Thought I'd demo it. Downloaded it and ran the installer. Tried firing it up and wouldn't run. Uninstalled it. I'm on Windows 10.

When Kurzweil was sold to Young Chang the K2600 documentation was lost,
thats why there is no editor for ours K2600!
