Yeah, I'm aware of the 800 but I'm afraid it wont be and 8 voice pro one but a different synth altogether. And I dont really need the voices, I need a snappy mono like pro-1. Maybe the p-800 does what I want and Im sure to get one if it does, but a midi upgraded b pro-1 for like a 100€ more would be perfect for me.

I hear you and agree, but at the same time, I am still shocked and ecstatic about the current state of analogue synths (“tributes” and new originals). I’ve sold a lot of outboard and older gear this year and replaced it with the meanest setup of analogue fun imaginable. It’s amazing! I’ll probably consider having a Pro-1 and Pro-800.

I could be wrong, but I think each voice of a Prophet-5 really is just a Pro-One? Maybe the same will be true of the Pro-800 and Pro-1?

Don't have 1st hand experience, but damn do all the sound demos of the Toraisz AS-1 sound really close to a P1. That's prob the closest they've gotten. I have no idea how annoying that thing is to edit though.

Played around and found a fix or what to do in case any other noobs come across this –

Apparently/ seemingly the Pro1 has the ability to ‘remember’ the last midi note played and uses that as the default OSC CV note?

Had the P1 by itself with no other connection and turned on drone and frequencies set to 0.

I plug the end of a patch cable to OSCCV and the pitch changes to a higher note (not even sure if it’s C) – This is the problem.

So plug in my Keystep via MIDI and try to find the default note that’s the P1 is giving on its own (which was the lowest C – not sure if that’s what it’s supposed to be but I’m OK with it)

I plug in the end of cable into the OSC CV > pitch changes. Started to get frustrated and plugging in and out of the OSC CV and trying anything I could while pressing keys on the KS. Noticed that when I hit a different note on the KS with nothing inserted into the OSC CV > then plugged back into the OSC CV > the note is the last note that I just played on the KS.

So I press the lowest C on the KS and which matches the default low C that drones when the KS is by itself > plug into the OSC CV and it matches with no pitch change > unplugged the MIDI from KS and tested again and it the note stays the same. All good.

Hopefully that’s not too confusing. Didn't have to mess around with the Arturia MCC at all.

Today I received a brand new copy of Pro 1 ... I immediately connected it and ... it has the same problem ... so maybe it's normal ... I have a request for PRO 1 users .. if someone could do it at home such a simple test as in my video? The sequncer always moves the octave to the C key, regardless of which key the recording of the sequence starts ... the exception is when you start the sequence from the C key then it is correct and only .. thank you

i don't have a pro 1 ...but

have you ran synth-tribe and made sure it's latest firmware?
it's the first thing you should do with all new hardware - make sure it's upto date.

I did not do it this time ... because I did it on the previous copy 2 weeks ago ... and the update did not change anything in this matter ... I would be sure if it should or not if anyone did a short test ... In the PRO 1 manual, however, it is stated that it should be possible to change the octaves properly while the sequencer is running. Thanks

I'm not near my gear, but I'm pretty sure that's how the P1 sequencer always functioned.

Well, I'm just waiting for a confirmation from someone ... but if it turns out that this is normal, it is strange ... because changing the octaves when playing seq is very helpful ... in this case, after changing the key, it is not known what note is on which key ... a bit pathological

i think it's normal behaviour on 80's sequencers that C is the 'starting point' and you can move away from that BASE .. same thing with my TB-3 i believe which is also using 40 years old ways of working.

if it was an iphone app you may get some traction with how it works but it's not new technology.... you're buying into the 1980's embrace it!

Yeah, it's normal. Think of C not as a note but as the center position for the sequence. If you move up to D, then it transposes the whole sequence up two half-steps.

that's how the sequencer works on the Oddy and Poly D too.

This problem has always bothered me, but your method does not work for me.

with MIDI cables, the lowest note of P1 is C; with cv cables, the lowest note of P1 is c². C becomes c².

Check your voltages.
Pro-1 Osc cv in is -5v to +5v.
Your CV output might be from 0-10v?

I have a Toraiz AS1 and it does indeed sound fantastic BUT still very tempted to pick up a B Pro 1 for the knobby interface and patch points. Really interested to hear the thoughts of anyone who has or has had both…

The Toraiz sounds great in the video above. All these recent Behringer clones are interesting and have taught me something — I find it more fun and I get better results with no presets, no menu diving, and having all controls available at once.

I no longer have my Behr Pro-1, however what does the mixer out output, is it just the waveforms from Osc A & B. Kinda wish they added outputs for the waveforms seperately though. Unless they can be tapped from the PCB ?

if it's like my others here it is a direct copy of what is in the mixer @ that exact point

so if vol 1 is up and 2 is down then the mix out taps just osc 1 and so on

and yeah, i imagine the waves can be tapped for someone with the tools

Yeah! i thought so. I might look into getting a couple of 3340 vco's. Pro-1 is a nice sounding synth, maybe i should have kept it.
