I bought mine when the 1.4 firmware came out...it was still on the previous factory firmware, it sequenced like it was drunk seriously how that left the factory floor I dont know

Slightly different for me, i would have registered had i known that my wife had bought my Christmas present in August. As it stands i will not be entitled to 3 years warranty whether i register or not. I did however register my model d on the day it arrived.

Ye had some arturia stuff except the brute rest its not as great defo worse then behringer current stuff.

"Making sure your products are up to date" is for people who haven't understood that blindly updating is not a sustainable tactic unless you have a lot of time and money to waste.

The spectrum analyzer doesn't show a pure saw wave.

Isn t the beatstep pro however better for the long term? More complex?I ve seen the polyend seq but couldnt hear 880 pounds to blow on lights

Be sure to have your Neutron in firmware update mode before running Zadig. Otherwise, it will not show the USB STM Bootloader selection as described in the update instructions.

To be honest the Keystep is more my cup of tea....but I have used neither. I am holding out for a Keystep Pro.

Well don t know if they ever will bring one.

If they don't by the summer of 2019 I guess ill get the reg Keystep... if i have the funds at that time.

Please Help. My Behringer Neutron is not making a changing sound difference when connected to the Arturia Keystep, or not. The only way i get anything out of the Neutron is if the volume is all the way up. And the Drive is all the way up. And Level is all the way up. How do i get the Keystep playing on the Neutron?

Make sure midi out on the KS is connected to midi on on Neutron. Then make sure the KS is sending on the same channel the Neutron is receiving on.

Or if your using CV connect the keysteps Pitch to Neutron's osc 1, 2 or 1+2 input and the keysteps Gate to Neutron's Env1 input

The env input is is labelled E. Gate 1 - connect the gate out from the Keystep to that.

Going for the bull **** pro if not good will sell.Dunno if its wise to get the sq1 too

The SQ1 can always be used as an extra modulator, you don't have to sequence with it.

i recently put the neutron into my euro case only to discover that the cv 1v/o pitch scaling on the neutron seems to be trash??

anybody else finding this to be the case?
i’ve tested it with beatstep pro and sq1, in both cases it seems that with each octave the tuning falls about 15 cents?

i tested my sequencers with every other oscillator in my rig and only the behringer is off. it also seems to be worse with the beatstep than sq1 (still has throw, but less so.)

i know i could tamper with the internal trim scaling- but the other user who did this ended up fixing the cv scaling while imbalancing the midi scaling.

any thoughts/ideas?

In the SQ1 you can change the CV voltage. Doing this while having a midi setup instead of CV will change the tonal range/scale of the sequence.

This is a tricky problem, not exclusive to the Neutron. I had similar issues with my Macbeth Micromac-D.

MIDI scaling was off. So I corrected it. This made CV scaling off. So I corrected that. Now MIDI scaling was off again.

The solution was to correct only the CV scaling and not try to correct MIDI scaling by hand (that is, by using trimmers), but rather use the built-in MIDI>CV interface's ability to adjust the scaling.

Not every interface can do this, though. I'm guessing the Neutron might not have this feature--in which case you might need to use an external MIDI>CV interface that does have scaling (eg Kenton) if you want MIDI and CV scaling to be the same (that is, in perfect tune).

Often the scaling/tracking via a CV input is far less accurate than MIDI. On my O Coast the usable range is only 3 octaves while the MIDI gives 6. Attempting to calibrate it better just messes up the MIDI tracking.

Exactly. It's better to leave MIDI tracking alone if it's in tune and use external means of adjusting CV scaling rather than fiddle with trimmers. Getting VCOs to track identically with CV or MIDI over multiple octaves is too difficult (if not impossible).

And that's how I ended up getting into samplers as a way to alleviate that problem.

Sounds good! A modular system + sampler is really about all you'd ever need.

Speaking of what one needs (or, for that matter, doesn't...) I'd be curious to hear your opinion of the Neutron from a modular user's perspective. I'd like... you know, the run down. A few sentences would suffice.

Anyone else reading this who'd like to chime in, please feel free. I'm thinking of getting one of these to serve as a semi-independent voice within a larger eurorack system (approximately 2.5 Derps in size).
