Indeed, atleast it's not worse than the original. Normally I'd be all for choice of colours, and actually think the various colours the MK have featured over the years have been pretty cool. But it's gone from mildly interesting, to a bad attempt at conceiling the complete lack of innovation.

As I've noted many other places, the MK XL flopped massively compared to the original, because Korg themselves apparently don't actually understand why the original was a success, and failed to replicate that. And now they're scared of trying again.
The answer is that the MK was a success because it's a complete synth, just smaller and cheaper. It does everything it's supposed to do, crucially including full patch edit right on the front panel. I know its editing matrix isn't to everybodys taste, but it works!
The MK XL was utterly dependant on a software editor, because they mucked up the front panel controls. And few enough people wanna buy a hardware synth keyboard that requires software control.
