I figure the P6 would give me the same lush/creamy sound (or better) but also much more potential to innovate.
That's fair. Both reasons I gravitated to the Prophet 6 as well. I definitely feel the Prophet 6 does lush-creamy very well. It can also be nicely biting when you need it to.
Is there a way you can swing it so that you can do the Prophet 6 and get a replacement for the SH-2 as well? Like do a Prophet 6 module and a Bass Station 2. I did some a/b comparisons of the SH-2 and the Bass Station and they can sound pretty similar, but the resonance on the BS2 can get a lot more aggressive sounding. Overall I'd say it leans a little toward that aggressive sound, but I do love the sound of it. I moved it to a "living room" rig, thinking that I'd have it double as a MIDI controller for after-dinner dance parties with the 3 year old... I missed it in the main studio so I moved it back.
But, there's other decent monosynths that can be had. Maybe a Sub 37 and a Prophet 6 module? I bet there's a way you could make it work. Prophet 6/Boomstar. The thing is, I have no idea what you could get for your Six-Trak and SH-2.
