Looks like a normal Xbase 888.. but i hope it's a new drum machine

as far as I know the 888 was never made in cream colouring, the 999 was though..

Seems like it's probably a 999 with different graphics for it's name. Interesting as he did put a prototype synth into a Sunsyn shell with a different name graphic.

Some cool stuff in there. I'm wondering what the last synth is at 4:30.

Man I would love it if he made one more drum machine that was a hybrid of the 808/909/606 in one shell...that would rock my sox big time..!! only alien Abduction, death or the sun exploding would stop me buying that..

I don't mind if they are taking their time with one as long as that taking their time translates to bug free OS of course...the Jomox drum machine sound is my all time fav but the flaky interface and OS is a real downer..

So lets hope it's a 3 way hybrid of the 808.909 & 606...it won't be the only machine singing that song with the Tr8 and Acidlab both already doing something similar but it will have that Jomox sound to make it stand out from the other two..

I wouldn't hold my breath for a bugs free OS. The most ridiculous 999/888 bug even made it into the Eurorack modules (sound setting often gets lost completely out of nothing when in edit mode)

a lot of people say the Jomox kick on the euro module is the best in modular but for the price it's just way to expensive imo..

I own that JoMoX Kick (ModBase 09). It has some serious low end. Good for sub kicks. However, it has this "hollow" sound you have to like really. I know some swear by it.

When it comes to 909 Kicks, the Dijstar RiDrum TK-09 is the module of my choice. It really nails the 909 kick (plus it has an extended parameter range). So I'm really curious for the new Dijkstar kick I ordered lately. I guess I'm serious about kickdrums

I'm going to order one of those as well, I have trouble with kicks and hardware, in software it's dead easy, just pick the one you like, but hardware is a totally different kettle of fish, I finally got a kick sound I'm happy with today that took me hrs to set up, I have the mutant kick coming out of both clean and distorted and they are layered ever so gently in my mutamix so I have it about 75% right, I want something else though so I'll try the Dijkstar module

Really excited again ; and really expecting a free bug OS … Money s burning in my pocket and i m about to buy several drum machines . This one s on my radar too … spent some time on this forum and You tube … Roland TR 09 ; Arturia Drumbrute ; MFB Tanzbar ; Elektron Rythm ; Cyclone TT 606 ; Acidlab Detroit ; and this Jomox Alpha base … whaouah what a choice available !!! Not interested at all with TR09 ; Drumbrute . Gonna buy the TT 606 for sure but still others too … expecting news from Jomox and Acidlab !!!!

I don't know whether to be happy or worried about all these new features and what looks like a completely overhauled or new OS for this unit, if everything works as it should, it looks to be an outright monster of a drum machine...anyone want to speculate cost of this..?? $1500 USD be close to the mark no..?

I'd speculate this to be 1500€ or so. And with some bugs in the OS.

the 2 demo sounds files are gorgeous, I'm rejigging quite a few things in my studio at the moment and am looking to heavily condense things into my cases and buy one expensive expressive piece of kit, I have been toying with buying a decent poly synth but this drum machine has always been lurking in my mind, think I'll hold on to $$ and see how things unfold..

I would have been happy with just a 2.0 OS for the 888, hope this happens together with the Alpha Base. The FM synth voice is a strange one. An extra sampling voice instead or the 888/999 analog snare would have been nice. I wonder if the samples will be stored in 8 bit like the previous machines.

Familiar Jomox sound, in both good and bad. The kick still rocks.

Sampler is most certainly really ambitious feature, hopefully it ends up being good.


As with others, I'm worried about the OS quality...

Hopefully there is a fully working model at NAMM and people can get in there and ask all the good questions like has the OS been rebuilt from the ground up and how stable and reliable is it...if we get positive answers to that then only wild horses will stop me buying this beast..
