Always wanted a 6 or 60 but just been checking local secondhand prices and have had a fit. Either I have been living under a rock or these have gotten really expensive of late ?
Quite amazed at the asking prices on some kit out there I must confess.
theres a mint juno-6 for sale on craigslist for $750.....not super interested but at that price, is it worth buying and just reselling for a small profit if i dont like it?
Was my very first synth when living in London in the early 90's, paid 250 quid for it, carried it home on the tube and played that sucker everyday for years, they go for $1200 + here in Australia now...so not worth it really..

The one I saw was just over $1200 Canadian and hit had a rather scratchy volume pot even though it looked in immaculate condition otherwise.
Seriously I would pay $500 maybe $600 tops but they are not worth much more, yes they sound good but they are a very simple synth with a very limited range of sounds really, the arp is nice an all but you can get so much more bang for buck buying newer analog things the A4, and with no midi on the Juno there's an extra cost should you need that too..
Seriously the Juno is much better value than the sh101. That plastic crap only has one voice and is asking the same price. At least you get 6 voices not one. Just bought an alpha Juno for a really good price and it does more than the Juno albeit slightly different pallette of sounds.
Vintage analogs are overpriced unless you get one cheap and are prepared to spend time effort and money to keep them alive
I bought my Juno-6 in 1999 for $250 or something like that. I sold it a few years ago for $400 when prices were starting to rise. It needed servicing (some keys were double triggering, etc.), so it wasn't a bad deal, and I still made out on it.
Would I pay what people are asking for them now? No. There are alternatives out there that are close enough for a lot cheaper. Some people lust for the authenticity, but I don't think the Juno-6/60 are worth fetishicizing as much as something like a Model D or Jupiter 8. Ah well, hipster halo effect. What can you do?
Bought mine for around $200 in the mid 90's. Sold it early 2000's. Liked it a lot, but ultimately tired of its sound. At today's asking prices you'd be mad to get one!
I just sold my Juno 6 for $500 on Craigslist and it sat for quite some time. Seems everybody wants the 60. They probably want the Roland Boutique now too

With Craigs, prices can vary a bit depending on the market. In the major cities, a very good condition and fully operational Juno 6 would go rather quickly at $500. How was cosmetic and operational condition and where are you located?
Like 90% of indie bands, really. It's the indie synth of choice for some reason, like the Fender Jaguars and Teles etc.
Yup.
Create Digital Music did a post/rant about it. I think it was the sound + color scheme + wood sides that made it so.
Teles I don't know about but Jaguars, Jazzmasters and Mustangs became the indie guitars because they were cheap when 80s/90s alternative artists couldn't
afford better. And they look cool.

It was in very nice shape, for sale smack dab between Chicago and Milwaukee. I thought is was a fair price though, and it was just sitting for awhile collecting dust. Sold it to a young optimistic guitarist who was wowed by the sound when he saw one used in a live band
Got mine for 150 usd in a pawn shop, after fixing the sliders i got bored with the samey sound and traded it for an ensoniq sq-80, they are sooo over rated
probably bout a bit more than a year ago β¦ before that Juno 6 was selling for 600 β¬ β¦ right now there s even somebody trying to sell one for 900 β¬ β¦ I m in the market for a 6 / 60 / 106 β¦ Not tomorrow but a soon as possible !!! i have time and will wait for a great deal ( or normal price should i ve said !!! )
And it s the exact same story for the SH101 β¦ Waiting to buy one too !!!
In the last 5 years all the Junos have been steadily increasing in price. Even the AJs. I should have bought a few 10 years ago when they were affordable. Btw also applies to the less fashionable TRs like the 707.
It's getting ridiculous now. There's Juno60s for sale for Β£1500/Β£2000 and they are selling.
Indie bands and Oneohtrix...
The Juno 6 was my first real synth back when they were cheaper. At the time a friend told me I was ripped off for paying 350 or something for it. Ironically what I really wanted was an MS-20...

Yeah, Dan Lopatin is amazing with just a Juno 60 and a looper. Although he never bought it, it was his dad's, he just grew his sound into that particular machine to this day. Funny story, really. Amazing musician.
I just checked for some 106's in Germany, the prices are all between 1000-1500β¬, it's just insane! 4-5 years ago the prices were around 500-600β¬ max.
Deny me all you want... this is what did it. My friend(bandmate)and I were laughing at the time because he was going to sell his Juno the week this video dropped (he decided to wait )... Point Never later on, just was the nail in the coffin.

Yeah it takes the pi*s in England tbf. Seeing these Americans post low prices makes you realise how different it is over there. I let a 6 and 106 go for 400 each in the early 00's and I thought I did well. Some people nowadays take the mick, but it's driven up by Roland fanboy ism mania so what can you do.
Probably right about Animal Collective...I was just trying my best at the time to pretend they didn't exist.
haha .. me too. I remember that was around the first time I went to New York to play a show. Ended up at some slightly hip bar in the lower east side.. and this track came on.. and the saw the girls all lip syncing to it.. I just thought "New York isn't cool anymore .. I missed it"

Lol...yeah I remember there was a sad period where I was single around that time and wondered if I was going to have to pretend to be into them...the Lower East Side has been a lost cause mostly for a while...
Anyway, as for the Juno 6 I do have fond memories of it...but I also got bored with it quickly even when I was new to it.
