3 pin din to xlr on vintage Sennheiser microphone
Hi, friends. I just bought a vintage Sennheiser MD 21 that came with a funky old cable. It's 3 pin DIN at the mic end, and TS jack at the other end, and both the red and blue wire (+/-) are soldered to the tip. Ground is connected to sleve.
Does this mean that the mic is"unbalanced" and how would I solder the three wires to an XLR?
The DIN-to-jack cable it has now, is it just like a guitar cable? And could I connect it to a combined XLR/jack input on a audio interface? Or would I have to connect it by XLR to have the signal go thru the 'mic preamp'?
I'm a complete amateur when it comes to these things, so I'm thankful for any help.
