Hi, I am curious which services you guys like to use?  I am in between companies and I do not know which would be best.  

Basically, I do not want to pay anything, I would rather have a percentage taken out of the revenue because I am not making any money anyway. 

I would like to upload songs and albums, I just do not want to pay a monthly or annual fee.  

I had a routenote account before but the website is rather basic and the customer service very slow.  I was also with united masters but they are changing their policies and I will not be using them anymore.  Thanks!

I use Distrokid. It is an annual fee, but it is honestly very cheap (I think around $30 annual). They provide a really great dashboard in my opinion, and make things simple for distribution in every way that I find important for myself. I'm not aware of any other distribution services that does it for free (seems like a non-sustaining business model if they did), but then again, I don't mind paying a small annual fee for a good service that can help my music get heard after all of those long long hours of hard work.

The label I'm associated with decided to go with Distrokid after a lot of research. At the moment it seems to be working well. But all these services are subject to changes in terms at any time, so you have to keep an eye on them.

Might this topic be a better fit in the Audio Life, Songwriting, or even the Low End forums? I think you might get better answers there? This forum tends to center around Post Production Audio for films and TV.

DIY not hard - a lot of upsides. Assign your own ISRCs etc. I always find out the BEST way to learn something is to do it all yourself. Then you actually see and know the 'state' of current distribution. ARI's take can help you understand the industry. The trouble is; Making one decision MAY stop you from having a choice in another area. Personally I like to see EVERYTHING that is happening and have as much info as possible. Pub Admins... and basic aggregators etc. like to keep the hood pretty much welded shut.

The best way to make a choice in my mind is to take your number one purpose or goal - and see what is the best fit vs a doing it all yourself deal. Then go down the list to 2nd priority/purpose/goal etc. Then step back and make your best informed decision. Best of luck.
