Using a party tent + mineral wool instead of ceiling clouds for absorbtion
Has anyone here tried setting up a temporary ceiling using a party tent and absorbtion material? Could this work?
I’m setting myself up for tracking vocals and acoustic guitar in my project studio. It’s in my apartment. Primary purpose is to start tracking as soon as possible, but I will also monitor in this room. My ambition is make high quality recordings. I have lots of mineral wool in triangles cut to be used for superchunk bass traps and I don’t need all of it for that.
The idea would be to put the triangles in plastic and fabric and then secure them on top of the tarp by whatever means.
As I already have a lot of absorbtion material, this would be cheap and I would be able to disassemble it quite easily without any marks in the ceiling.
Are there any disadvantages I’m not seeing here? In terms of acoustics, practicality, safety? Is there a better solution?
Btw this is my first post, I’ve read here for quite some time and I am very grateful for all I’ve learned from you so far!
