They stated for Logic 9. There is no info from Apple on release date, features or prices of Logic X. How do you know it won't be $149?

Next step in Logic 10 "IS" going to be probes into the brain stem and all you gotta do is think it.............which will be the $4999.00, plus wups,

Logic X at $200 will probably put Avid, MOTU, & Steinberg out of business. Competition is needed. The best move for all of us might be to move to one of these other daws, and give our money to companies commited to pro audio. What do you guys think?

Stripped down "Logic X Pro" for $149, Instruments ranging from $29 to $99 and a Box Edition "Logic X Studio" for $499 is my best guess.

And I'd love it. I don't use a single virtual instrument anymore. A stripped down Logic X taking similar steps as Final Cut X did, with resource efficient editing and good sounding PlugIns, would be absolutely perfect for me.

I'm not sure it makes sense that the app price would drop if the instruments were sold separately.

Splitting the instruments from the app would involve extra work, therefore increasing the costs.

yes! or their own version of it, surely they can pull something even more integrated off by them self, it´s probably gonna happen and i think it will work like flex-time, but for pitch..name will be flexy-pitch

Oh, one thing I would really like is spectrogram visualization of audio regions.

And Cuabase-esq plug in organisation so you're not scrolling down zillions of plugs.

And they have not shown any inclination or reason to unbundle anything from Logic to drop the price any more... or to do anything to more than double the current price.

Mmmh... I don't know. But you may have a point seeing how downloading 4+ GB is the only way of updating your Mac OS these days.

I'm not sure about them not showing any inclination to unbundle stuff... not with Logic particularly, yes - but they've never been known to talk about upcoming software too much. The trend is very visible in Final Cut X, though!

And I for one use Logic almost exclusively for recording and mixing so saving money and disk space on VIs would make it all the more attractive to me. I'm sure I'm not alone?

On another note... this may be a noob-question but how is the Mac App Store distribution going to work with multi-computer licenses? Surely, I won't have to buy Logic individually for my MacBook, Mac Pro etc... most likely the license is going to be linked to my Apple ID? What if my Mac Pro at work isn't on the same Apple ID as my MacBook, though? I know quite a few people who like to take projects home to edit stuff in a different environment from time to time....

It all seems to be connected to the user and their devices. ie If you have an Apple account (Apple ID) associated with a device, then you can use the software on it, as you've suggested. I not sure how the multi/volume licensing works.
I have two Apple IDs, but they somehow know about each other, so it's not really a problem. You can have multiple apple IDs associated with a device AFAIK.

So delete the uwanted VIs.

It would not involve extra work with a complete rewrite, which is what we know is happening. I believe all the plug-ins will be new or redesigned from the ground up. I personally much prefer an "a la carte" DAW with my own favorite plug-iIns and VSTs, none of which are apple products........or maybe they may have a cool granular synth that could peek my interests?

You can't. Logic's instruments are embedded in the software itself, they're not in AU or VST ( or other ) formats.

... may not be about Logic, but about some new plugins - or about a completely different app, like an ear training app, or a remote control for Logic - or something else.

But if you are referring to something else than this ad, I wonder who "we" are, and also about what it is that you know is happening - and how you know it. :-)

There's plenty that's wrong with the core app before even thinking about the Autodesk approach to software updates.
