Any news?

According to that French site which was posted before, the guide to Logic Pro X should be released tomorrow Also the Summer NAMM will begin tomorrow.

Can't wait for news too... We were just thinking finally upgrade to 9... maybe we'll wait another couple of months heh

I've had a book on order on TWO websites on Quartz Composer & QuartzGL that has been pushed back every 2-3 months for the last 2 years! I wouldn't count on a publishing deadline to reflect 100% accurate knowledge of Apple's plans, especially given Apple's propensity to not even notify developers of major changes in a given program (for example Final Cut X & plugin devs, changes to the AU spec between OS & Logic versions...etc).

I just upgraded to Pro last week from Express. So, of course it will come out tomorrow.

It was quite a while ago actually. It was part of the news item on mac rumors (as far as i recall) when logic moved to the app store thus making waveburner unavaible for purchase.

That was posted in September 2011, I'd say attributing much veracity to that is kinda optimistic at this point.

I like the idea of a nice update for Logic, but outside of maybe some service packs to fix bugs I'm not holding my breath. I think it'll go the way of Shake and Color.

That news is 10 months old.

Not to mention that, CDs aren't really a part of the Apple ethos anymore, so what's the point in continuing to support software for it? CDs will go the way of the floppy disk.

Hey zaxmalloy, is there an upgrade path from Express to Pro or did you just pay the full $200 for Pro?

FYI at Apple Max Paley used to be VP Audio/Video while Greg Gilley was VP, Video Apps. But at the end of last year (right after the Final Cut Pro X debacle) Paley left Apple and now Gilley is VP of "Consumer & Pro Applications," which I believe was a newly-created position.

Wild, unsubstantiated speculation: Gilley decided to reverse/fix/change decisions made by Paley and is overseeing changes to Logic so as to avoid pro complaints like those which arose under Paley's watch with FCPX.

Look on ebay and there are a number of legitimate sellers selling the upgrade from Logic Express to Logic Studio for $99 for a sealed box, including shipping.

Apple or other resellers must have sold off some odd lots of it.

That's Logic Studio not Logic Pro, which is what Dillops asked about. There is no upgrade path to Pro, you simply purchase it on the MAS.

True....but in reality that means nothing material.

It is a 'Logic Studio' upgrade which contains Logic Pro. You can install the upgrade as component parts or the entire "studio".

For example, I had purchased Mainstage2 and it's associated content through the App Store version so no need to reinstall.

Once installed just ask Logic Pro to go find program updates and it updates to Logic Pro 9 latest version. I did choose to install Waveburner and Soundtrack Pro...though I'm not entirely sure why...guess I'll check them out eventually.

Meanwhile, having Sculpture, Space Designer and the other Logic Pro only components is awesome....especially for $99

But a program with markers, pointers and such is still useful for mastering live performances and other continuous recordings.

I know a guy that talked to a dude which has a relationship with someone who has worked on Logic in the last 6 months. He says a new version is coming out before 2014. I'm hopeful.

I've also talked with a cousin that has a brother in law who's brother knows someone's sister who's married to a guy that says it should come out any time.
