One thing that can throw off the ping is distortion. Not sure what you are running through but I've found a compressor that's distorting a bit, or definitely a saturator will cause that.
If the unit has a bypass, do the ping in bypass and then re-engage or patch a straight loop back from out to in, ping and then re-patch the hardware.
See if that does anything.
If the result is the same then it might be a problem with the ping function itself.
So going from outs directly back into inputs, and set-to 50% dry/wet it sounds useable (maybe) almost like there is a little reverb halo. At 100% it sounds like a snapback and the ping doesn't solve anything. When adding outboard back in the slapback sound gets more pronounced and it isn't usable even at 50% wet/dry.
I thought one could run their wet at 100% in order to get the full effect of their outboard gear?
I think I am going to try and update/reinstall logic and my rme drivers.
