Hello, I use a MacBook Pro 16" 2019, OS 14.7.2, and my soundtrack is a MOTU 24Ai, connected with 3X Presonus Digimax FS pre-converters (ADAT optical + coaxial word clock).
My DAW is Digital Performer 11.
In the last months I have had several issues while performing multitrack (16 to 24) recording, the recording suddenly stops, really annoying in a live situation.
Therefore I am trying to identify the culprit.
I have been using an external USB-C to standard USB-A adapter: would you suggest using a simple usb-C to usb-B cable, straight from laptop to soundcard? Any of you use such a cable?

Are you certain that your problem is caused by the interface? Does it loose the connection?

I have a MOTU 8pre es, which I believe uses the same drivers. There were problems when I first had the interface (crashes, even kernel panics), which completely went away through a driver update. Are you on the newest drivers? Have you checked that the firmware is uptodate?

I had problems a few years ago when I was using the Thunderbolt connection - the interface would suddenly come offline and that would stop the recording. I have since changed to the USB connection which completely solved that problem. Recent recordings I did with it were completely trouble free.

And There don't seem to be any advantages to using Thunderbolt.

Perhaps the problem has to do with your DAW? I don't use DP myself.
