Hi! I was wondering if you have experience using kaizen foam for storing and carrying to the sessions the microphones. Iโm specially interested in knowing if this kind of foam can leave residue that can be dangerous for the microphones (as it happens with the typical Pelican foam). Thanks!
Made of polyethylene, one of the more outgassing plastics, so I wouldn't use it.
FWIW, in all my 40+ years of location work, I've never used foam-lined cases for transporting mics, and have never had a single mic fail or develop a problem because of it.
Mics aren't made of glass . . .
The few times I use tube mics, I give them a little extra cushioning, but never foam-lined cases.
