How to get the sound of dying tubes (like Jim James)?
On the Jim James song, "State Of The Art (A.E.I.O.U.)," around 2:30 and onward, his vocals intermittently cut out. It sounds a bit like the tubes in a preamp dying. I'm curious how they achieved this sound, as it's clearly intentional. Any ideas?
