Am I correct in thinking this is a Sub Phatty 2.0? An old promo video for the Sub Phatty Multidrive is what first got me interested in synths...
If I wanted to add a bit of authentic Moog flavor, would this be a good choice?
Thanks -
If you have a computer nearby I think it might not be a bad deal. If not, look at the button combos for the secondary controls βΒ they are insane.

Please explain. There is a lot of misinformation floating around, so an explanation ( if this was explained elsewhere ) deserves repeating.
Afaik Subsequent 25 is a cut down Subsequent 37.
Subseqeunt 25 is based on the Sub Phatty not the Sub37. The mixer has twice the headroom and can do nice moog leads which INHALT demonstrated really well in their video above, and the multidrive is, from what I understand, stronger on the Subsequent 25 vs. others.
Iβm confused why Moog allegedly responded to someone saying it was the same as the Subsequent 37, the product write-up is clear about it being a successor to the Sub Phatty which is sonically distinct, but of course within a family of similar sounds.
I think these nuances matter a lot for a small characterful synth, I spent a long time listening to a/b comparisons once I noticed this deal and without having played either the Subsequent 25 sounds better to my ears, but this will vary of course and there are a lot of downsides: you need a PC or external controller to get the most out of it, also a sequencer.
The keybed while the best of the whole line, I think it is Fatar, is limited and has no aftertouch which filter cutoff does respond to so using an external one can be beneficial etc.
I have one coming in the post and will share some impressions sometime soon and hopefully sound examples in the next few weeks. I think the current price is great for what it is, but the tradeoffs are important to understand.
