Buried in the release notes for Logic 11 was a line saying it can now monitor Atmos out of the HDMI port of a Mac to a consumer receiver. This must mean that Apple have persuaded Dolby to allow them to output Dolby MAT from the Mac from Logic which was not previously allowed.

And not outputing MAT at all only PCM8 (hence limited to 5.1.2) and relying on you shifting what would be the back channels in 7.1 to be the height channels.
