Are acoustic hangers better than thick fluffy traps?
Over on John Sayers site it says:
There are basically two ways to control low frequencies: Acoustic Hangers & Panel Absorbers. It doesn't mention the use of thick layers of fiberglass. Over here on GS for low frequency control I have been advised that thick layers of fluffy works best for this and don't really hear any talk of acoustic hangers etc. Can someone please confirm which is actually better to use?
They do use thick fluffy fiberglass extensively over there in their designs as well. If you look at some of johns, and other members room designs it is in there. The hangers are used a lot too, but ive never actually seen any data on them. However, they swear by them.
I built some hangers in my room in the rear corners and I think they work very well. Of course I have no direct comparison with what it would have been like if I had put fluffy stuff there instead. The trouble is they take up a lot of space so if you don't have lots of it they are not really an option. If I had had more space I would have tried with more.
