I just finished building 12 panels (6x2" & 6x4")...

Regarding Placement of the bass traps in corner. Is it fine just to use ONE in each corner mid-wall height? Panels are 4' x 2'.

Mid-wall better or can I even leave them standing on the floor in corners and back wall?



My plan was to use

4" panels:
- 1 in 3 corners (4th I can 't do anything as it's the door to room)
- 2 along back wall which will be same height as corner mid-wall of 8 ft ceiling)
- 1 above me on ceiling


2" panels:
- 2 front wall
- 2 on each side wall

It depends, and choices would be best made using Acoustic Measurement rather than just guessing.
If Modes are dominant then, Bass Traps work best in corners. A corner at the floor or ceiling is TriCorner, even better. So I would use the six 4" in the three corners floor to ceiling.
If the Back Wall BIR is dominant it may well be best to place Traps there. Not the ceiling to Back Wall is a horizontal corner. As is the Floor/BW
I cannot imagine any purpose for 2" panels on the front wall. RealTraps - Front Wall Absorption
Use them overhead as a cloud.

You can just leave them on the floor. Low end is going to build up in the whole cover.

That might be a good start but plan on putting more trapping in more corners and perhaps thicker (and more) on the back wall. Not to over simplify, but basically the more corners you put in corners the better the low end response will be in the room.
