Luke Audio Y56 with Violet Design VD67 capsule (homemade adaptor, really hope Luke makes a real adaptor soon and I can put away the tape) on all vocals. Saving up for some of the new Blue caps.

The VTB-1 is a much better sounding pre, than what's in the Mbox.
Better also than the Vita pre's, I have in a Mackie Mixer.
I wanted to hear how much the VTB-1 smoothed out the AKG 200 (it did).
Light de-essing/compression, with some reverb. All via Multitrackstudio.
Tried to get some of my breathiness out with Audacity's "Noise Removal" VST.
Rob, not my best recording (or performance).
But... Did my AKG 200 sound smooth enough?
Thanks, Chris
P.S. Below is a relatively better recording (snippet) of
"Something So Right", with the AKG 200.

im upgrading .. now having brauner phanthera on a neve 1073 1176 and a summit eq with tube output for extra mojo apogee rosetta ad da . but heard the vm1 and valvet . like that upfront sound with still deep weight and smooth highs .. i really like the brauner mic sound on my voice ..
The lamented Big ER mic, RIP John Downs. It really is a big mic! Tends to pinch a bit more then I like in the high mids...Ignore the cricket, he's been a real basturd this week.
Big ER -> RCA BA31a -> RNP 5033 HP/60, HM/broad dip abput 5000 -> Retro Sta.
This morning I checked em out.. I recorded acoustic guitar with the R88 then did a lead vocal and a couple passes of bg vocals with the R44 tried each of the pair on high and low back ups.. Sequential and seem exactly the same
Still need to get better at delivery of the lead vocal but I like the overall sound a lot!
Oh yeah and I also got an RPQ2 that I used for preamp
Recorded to 2" tape thru API 1608. A little sta level on lead vox
And too much reverb lol
Just did a quick mix and rode the bg vox on a buss Far from done
Ive decided I like ribbons on my voice
I have a weird voice
Saturday, 9/15, was my first opportunity to use the AEA KU4 on all vocals for a session and I really enjoyed it. My preamp setup is pretty unique overall, here goes.
2 1x12β Tube gtr amps. One with a Royer 101 and the other with a Shure Beta 181 cardioid. Both aimed at the dust cap seem. Player had a very slow and gentle lush chorus. Iβm not usually a fan of that move, but it was an excellent stereo chorus and literally did almost nothing. The mic differences played into the effect nicely. Mics into Hardyβs and then straight to tape (PT).

I've been a repeat offender of posting here without providing examples - it's always tough for me to do that on the day of recording. So this was more like a year ago today, but at least I can post some sound
This is an ADK Z67 mic, and I'm pretty sure I used an NPNG preamp and no additional processing during recording. (I'm posting the whole mixed song, which does have some compression, etc. at mix time - but this is not the mastered version.)
I used several different mics with this singer for his album, and it was cool to hear the differences. I really like how the ADK worked with his voice - great mic! I need to use it more than I have.
On Saturday I was finally able to do a vocal session with Earthworks new SV33 and am impressed. Also put up a Neumann KMS 105 when we recorded piano and two vocals together. The rejection of both mics made them a pleasure to use on the vocalists standing about two feet apart and both mics were on Coil Audio 286 preamps. I was also very happy with a first session on a new Nord Piano 4 which replaced my V-Piano.
I work with Middle & High Schoolers who were champs practicing and recording for a Christmas Concert with 17 songs. On Saturday we recorded piano, lead and some harmony for 12 songs and piano for a 13th.
I recorded vocals today with AKG 414XLS, SSL preamp, LA2 & Lynx Aurora. Usually I use U67 for vocals, but in this case it didn't work so good. So I tried 414, and it was sounded great with singer. Also had Sennheiser 441 recorded along.
